First Court of Honor

About a month ago, September 22nd to be exact, Chasity participated in her first Court of Honor. She has been in her Boy Scouts of America troop for a little over a year now. She is part of the Scouts BSA program; it's for youth 11-17 years old. She is loving it.

In February 2020, she went camping for the first time ever. It was raining. It was freezing cold. She loved it! Now she has all her own gear, and it currently occupies a corner of my living room.

In September, the all girls troop she participates with partnered with the boys troop at the same location and held a Court of Honor. Chasity was awarded a couple of Merit Badges, but she also was awarded her First Class rank that night. She is only three ranks (and a lot of work) away from achieving Eagle.

Did I say that she's loving it?

Chasity in full uniform for the Court of Honor

Technically, full uniform is just the Scout shirt, but Chasity loves the pants. They zip off at the knees to become shorts. If I got her a pair to wear every day, she would never wear any other kind of pants.

Chasity speaking at Court of Honor

When we arrived at the church for the Court of Honor, Chasity had no idea that she was going to be participating. Normally, she needs time to prepare to be in front of people because she does NOT like public speaking. However, she took it in stride and did what was asked and needed!

I could be a little biased here, but I think she did a great job!

Chasity presenting Awards

Not only did she have to speak, but she had to assist in handing out awards to other scouts as well. This was easy, but she still did a great job!

I have so many pictures and stories to post about Scouts. Chasity really is enjoying herself in her Scouts BSA troop. The worst part is that this is her last year that she can be a Scout. She ages out on her 18th birthday. That means she can come back as a leader, but she cannot be a Scout.

Almost every Monday on the way to her troop meetings, she tells me that she wishes she could have started Boy Scouts earlier.

I really hope that other kids (boys and girls) take advantage of this program!
