New School Year--A New Beginning and An Ending

Image
On August 17, 2020, my lovely daughter, Chasity, started her senior year of high school. Since she is homeschooled, she is taking dual enrollment classes. Upon graduation in May 2021, she will be given her high school diploma and her Associate of Arts degree. She was supposed to have two classes online, Drawing I and Chemistry. With all the current craziness, she is taking all of those online.  She wants to major in Art when she goes to a 4-year school, so she is planning to take a few more art classes next semester. I am excited for her. She knows what she wants to do. She has already been accepted to two schools--Liberty and Chowan. We are waiting for a couple more schools to respond. We have a few visits lined up, and she is excited.... I think.  Liberty Acceptance Package Chowan Acceptance Package She was also asked to join the National Society of High School Scholars. So, we did!  For the Spring semester in her dual enrollment classes, she made the President's ...

No Real News

So, I haven’t written lately. Well, it feels like forever since I have written.  It’s only been a couple of days in real time.   There’s nothing really going on around here right now. We are waiting on the date for the 500+ cookie celebration. There may be a Daddy-Daughter dance this year after all for Girl Scouts. My troop is working on their Bronze Award tomorrow night.  (I hope they bring in enough shirts.)    My brain is on overload.    I can’t believe that we have fewer that 10 weeks left in school—9 weeks and 3 days (counting today).  With Easter being so late this year, our Spring Break is late!  It’s a bit nuts.   This is probably the most random stuff I have ever posted.  BUT… if you think about it, it clears my head to get to the stuff I have to do today.  In that way, this has been helpful!   Now….  to get ready for the day!

Girl Scout Awards Day

Image
Tonight, we have awards for Girl Scouts.    Right now, I’m trying to write an article or two, but I’m having a hard time writing these.  I am wondering if I should just tell this guy that I am going to look for other things to write.  I can’t find information for the stuff….so I can’t write what he wants written.   Plus….I emailed him to ask questions about a couple of the articles, but I haven’t gotten a response.  Some of the articles are the same names—almost.    For example: Girl Scout Award Girl Scout Awards   See?  I don’t know how to write two articles about that!  They are the same thing…. I just need to know what he wants me to do.  The articles are due tomorrow.  I get so stressed out!!!  I’m sure he will answer… I just have to patient!    As for the awards, the girls are getting all their cookie prizes…. patches…..badges….and gifts tonight!  I have two girls who are br...

Ready for a Break

Last night, I attended my last required meeting for Girl Scouts for the year.  We did our Adult Awards Banquet.  That means that my year as a Service Unit team member is over!    That also means that all I have left is to complete my Troop Scout Year, and a little paperwork, and I am finished for the year.    Our final troop meeting is the week after school lets out so that I have time to go get badges/awards for the girls!   Then, we have some fun stuff, camping/trip/etc. over the summer, but other than that, we don’t do anything until August!    I’m so ready for a break, and I think my girls are too!   18 school days left (12 teaching—6 exams!)

Mixed Emotions

Image
Last night, the Celebration Ceremony for Girl Scouts was great!  I’m finished for the year, except for one event where I just have to show up, eat, and watch awards!  lol   I do have to do my TROOP awards, but those are in about 4 weeks. I have a couple days to rest first!    Today, I’m having mixed emotions.  My pastor’s dad is being buried today.  I’m sad for that.  He’s in a better place….that’s good. My emotions are crazy because I’m here at home.  My parents and my sister (and her hubs) went to the funeral—6 hours away.  Mother’s Day is tomorrow.  My dad’s birthday is tomorrow!  I won’t get to see either of them tomorrow because they are staying in Elizabeth City again tonight.     Kinda stinks.   Anyways….. softball today….at noon!  GO TARHEELS!  If we win today and both games next week, we will be in 1st place!!!

Yesterday and Today

Yesterday was the 11th anniversary of my mother-in-law passing.    Yesterday was the day that my pastor’s father passed.  (My pastor is my dad’s best friend.)   Yesterday was the day that the part of my history was burned to the ground (on purpose) by the city!    Today is the day that I means I only have 20 days of school left.   Today is the day I have a Girl Scout ceremony to celebrate girls who have worked hard this year!   Today is the day the Princess has softball practice!   Today is the day that I will see the remaining evidence of the part of my history that was burned.  (I promise to tell this later!)   Today is the day that I will have a much better day than I did yesterday (at least emotionally!!!)!!!!!!

Today is the Day

Image
Today is the day that…. 1. We only have 22 days of school left.  Of those, only 16 teaching days.  6 are exam days!   2. We find out if the Princess gets into one of the schools were are hoping for.  We applied to a couple.  However, because of money (and not wanting to pay more a month for her to go to school than we do for a car payment) one of the schools is not an option!  This one, is FREE.  There is just a lottery to get in.  They are doing the lottery for 5th grade today.  So we will know soon (as soon as it is posted on the website) if she got in or got waitlisted!    3. We finalize everything for the Girl Scout Celebration Ceremony this Friday.  I am going to get the certificates done and signed.  I am going to get the ceremony written.  I am going to confirm everyone who is helping and/or attending.  This should be  really easy ceremony for me.   I like them like that!   4. ...

Mother's Day Weekend

WOW! I can't believe everything that we did this weekend. Saturday, Chasity and I slept in. Tony had to work; Chasity and I didn't even hear the alarm clock. Then, Saturday afternoon, we went to the park. My mom's family--all of her siblings that are still with us (two sisters have passed already)--met at the park! We were celebrating my 91 year old grandma! We were there for about 3 hours. Then we came home, cleaned up, and chilled out for the rest of the night. Sunday morning, when I got out of the shower, Tony and Chasity surprised me with pink roses. Chasity also made me a little mouse of clay and painted it. (I'll try to put up pics of this stuff.) And I had TWO cards! I was so excited just to be a mom! At church, my Secret Sister (who will be revealed at Christmas) gave me a bag of goodies... mostly scrapbooking stuff! :) Then the church gave out prizes for the oldest mom--it was a lady from our church who doesn't get to come often! I'm so gla...

Girl Scout Patches

I really didn't realize how many patches and stuff Chasity has earned this year. BUT... I just got home from my mom's house (literally around the corner) and we spent a little more than an hour putting all Chasity's petals and patches on her Daisy Girl Scout Tunic! I am so excited to see her tunic so colorful now! She earned her entire Daisy for the front of her tunic. Then she earned 20-30 patches for the back of the tunic! WOW! That was all between October and May.....SEVEN months. Imagine what she'll do with 3 extra months next year! LOL I am excited about what Girl Scouts can do for her! She loves it! I just hope she continues to love it! Until next time........

Girl Scouts Rock!

Tonight we had the GS Awards for our Troop. WOW! That was a lot of work! I didn't realize that the girls had earned so much until I started getting everything together. Chasity earned a lot that the other kids didn't mainly because she had to be at stuff. With a leader as your mom, you have to be places that other kids don't always show up! lol Chasity got the 1st place trophy for selling 500 boxes of GS cookies! #2 was 328 boxes. #3 was a 2-way tie with 300 boxes! I am just glad that it's over. It won't be long until we start meeting again....August! So now, I am getting ready for GS camp...the beginning of August. Then probably 2 weeks later, we will have our first meeting. Whew! That doesn't seem so long now! I am just so glad that Girl Scouts ROCK!!! Until next time........
