Writing Challenge--Day #9

Check out links to all of the Writing Challenge posts in Day #8 . It's kind of fitting that I'm doing this challenge. It's starting to ask questions about Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. Since tomorrow is the last day of the posts I'm doing about the Writing Challenge, I think it's going to be a good way to end it. Don't forget to leave the link to your post of the writing challenge in the comments so I can come check it out! Today's Challenge: "What's on your Christmas wish list?" I have a lot of stuff on my Christmas wish list; don't we all? I want things that can be bought: Clothes Shoes Camera Pots and Pans Silverware Mattress/Box Springs Fitbit Laptop I want things I know I can't get: Pay off my bills (all of them--including house, car, and student loans) before Dec. 31 Win the lottery (except I don't play) I want things I have to work to get: Health Happiness Love Peace Get my house decor

Writing Challenge--Day #8

I took a few days off to spend time with my family for Thanksgiving!  I hope you all enjoyed your time with family/friends/co-workers--whomever you spent Thanksgiving with! There are links to all the other Writing Challenge posts on Day #7 . I know in the beginning I said there are 60 days to this challenge.  However, I have thought about it, and I think I'm going to do the first 10 days. I have started writing on a regular basis.... which was the point. So, now, I'm going to write about other things.... not just the challenge topics. Today's Challenge is actually quite appropriate.  It's about Thanksgiving. Today's Challenge: "Make a list of 10 things for which you are thankful." Making a list is easy. Leaving it just in list form is hard for me. :) I'm Thankful For.... 1. God--He is so awesome. He supplies everything I need. He is there no matter what and loves me no matter what. I have failed Him so many times, but He has never fail

Writing Challege--Day #7

Today is Day #7 of the Writing Challenge. Check out links to all the previous days on Day #6 . Today's Challenge: "Do you prefer to be behind the camera or in front of it?" For most of my life, I have preferred being behind the camera.  In most cases, I still do. I am a scrapbooker. I LOVE having pictures to use in my scrapbooks. I keep my camera (not my phone) with me 90% of the time. I also try to keep extra batteries with me too. :)  I used to have a camera with a rechargeable battery, but now, I have one that uses actual batteries. It's easier... and less stressful.... since I missed a lot of pictures with the old camera when it died and I didn't have an extra rechargeable battery with me. :( Anyways, now that I'm smaller, healthier, and more in shape, I don't mind being in front of the camera as much. I have even started taking a few selfies now and then. I'm sure there will times I am in front of the camera; however, I think I will alw

Writing Challenge--Day #6

Today is Day #6 of the Writing Challenge. I have noticed that there are quite a few people reading, but only one person has joined in!  It's fun to write together. Join in!!  Leave the link to your writing in the comments! Links to all the previous days are in yesterday's post. Check out Days #1-5 by going to Day #5 . Today's Challenge--"Do you have any strange phobias?" I don't think that my phobias are strange. Other people, who aren't afraid of the same things, may think they are. I am TERRIFIED of dogs. I got bit ONCE! That was all it took. Yes, I did have a dog, once, but he didn't bite me. A family friend's dog bit me when I was looking at her puppies.... not even touching (or trying to touch)... just looking at them in the box! I was 8! I have been terrified of all dogs since then! I am scared of heights! If something is up higher than I am tall, then I have a hard time getting to it. I can't do ladders. I love lighthouses (a

Writing Challenge--Day #5

Yesterday, I totally forgot to write. Well, I did write, but not here. I left for church at 9am and with everything I had to do yesterday, I did not come back home to stay until almost midnight. Hey! Some days are like that! So Writing Challenge Day #5 is today! Go back and check out Day #1 , Day #2 , Day #3 , and Day #4 . Then write your own and leave the links in the comments sections on the pages. Today's Challenge: "What does your last text message from someone else say?" The last text message I received says, "I'll call at nap." Yep! That's from my mom. She's a day care director. Last night, my brother was telling us about the awesome turkey that was catered in for the Thanksgiving meal at his job. He had just sent us the information for their contact at the restaurant. If my mom had not responded to him, the message would have been much longer and would have been a free plug for a local restaurant!!  I guess Mom is going to call

Writing Challenge--Day #4

Today is Day #4 of the Writing Challenge. Check out Day #1 , Day #2 , and Day #3 . Then, join in!  It's fun writing about things!  Just be sure to leave a link to your post in the comments so I can come check it out! Today's Challenge: "What do you think about most?" To me, that's a loaded question. It depends on my mood. It depends on my plans. It just depends. Most of the time, I think about how I need a full time job. I want to get back into teaching. I apply for jobs, but I haven't gotten any of them. I think about my daughter's future. I think about all the things she can become, and the things that scare me about that!  I think about going back to school. I just don't know what I'd study. I've looked at the audition requirements for going back to school as a music major, but they TERRIFY me! It's been 20 years since I played on a regular basis.. I think about writing. I'm doing it more now. I love writing. I think

Writing Challenge--Day #3

If you are just joining in the writing challenge, check out Day #1 here and Day #2 here . Be sure to leave your comments or links to your writing challenge in the comments. Today's Challenge--"Pick up the book that is lying closest to you. Open it to page 23. Write down line #17." The book sitting closest to me is Hollow City  by Ransom Riggs. It is the second book in a series. The first book in the series is  Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children .  Yes, it is now a movie. No! I have not seen the movie yet! The Princess read this first for school last year. I told her I would read the book so we could see the movie. (If it's still in theaters, maybe we can check it out over Thanksgiving break!) Page 23 Line 17 says: "massive wave, our boats turning nearly vertical beneath us. Emma" This line is during the part where the children are in a canoe-like boat during a storm.  I will not tell anything further.  No Spoiler Alerts from me!  S

Writing Challenge--Day #2

Today is Day #2 of my writing challenge. If you missed Day #1, check it out here . Join in; it's never too late to start writing. Yesterday's challenge about songs did not require a lot of thought on my part.  I have music around me all the time. I have been listening to music since before I was born. I have been singing since "before I could talk," if you would have asked my Grandmother before she passed. Today's Challenge: "If you could meet anyone on this earth, who would it be?" In order to answer this, I am going to say that I don't have ONE single person I want to meet. I have a lot of people I want to meet. I have a lot of questions I'd love to ask everyone of them. However, I have a group of people, however silly it may sound, that I would love to meet at some point. Let me preface this by saying that I have watched wrestling on TV since, well, since as long as I can remember. I recall times sitting on the floor at my great-grand

Writing Challenge--Day #1

Today's challenge: "Put your iTunes on shuffle. Write down the first 6 songs that pop up." The only problem I have with today's challenge is that I do not have iTunes.  :)  I have Spotify. I love it. So, I put it on one of my playlists and hit shuffle. Here is what happened: Say Amen by Finding Favor Call It Grace by Unspoken Just Be Held by Casting Crowns Completely by Among the Thirsty Keep Making Me by Sidewalk Prophets Just Say Jesus by 7eventh Time Down I have these in a playlist called "Inspirational for Me".  I love all of these songs. They are so inspirational. They help me when I'm down. They remind me Who I should be looking toward at all times. So, what are the first 6 songs on your playlist?

Writing is a Challenge

There has been a lot of negativity going around the internet lately. There have been so many people who are "unfriending" people they have known for years because of differences of opinions. What!??!  That's crazy! I have found it hard to write about anything because I did not want to have my ideas misconstrued. I did not want people to think I was for something or against it just because I discussed it. I have kept my political thoughts out of Social Media. I haven't posted anything (other than my The Wait is Over post the other day) about either side. I have a right to say what I want, but I have found that I want to keep the peace. In the spirit of having a challenging time writing, I found a "writing challenge" with a list of 60 things to write about. It's supposed to go in a personal journal, but I think I'm going to put mine on here.  I'll start with a new post and keep it moving.  Feel free to the challenge with me. I'll post

The Wait is Over

For months now, we have all been waiting to see how the election would turn out. Now, the wait is over. What do we do now? Most of us will go on living our normal lives. Yes, there will be some changes. Yes, there will be new laws. Yes, there will be things we agree with and disagree with. I'm not telling for whom I voted. Those close to me, who know my views and beliefs, know that answer. Do I think that there would be problems or issues no matter how the election turned out? YES!!! No one is perfect. If you are a Donald Trump fan, he's not perfect. There's no way he can do EVERYTHING he promised.  Even though he has a Republican House AND Senate, he will not get them to do everything he wants done. On the other hand, if the shoe were on the other foot and Hillary Clinton had won, she wouldn't be able to do everything either. Even if Congress had been turned blue with her, they wouldn't agree on everything. With that many people having to vote and agr
