What a Difference a Day Makes

One day.... 24 hours.... 1440 minutes.... 86400 seconds..... No matter how you figure it, one day is not that long. It really is amazing how so much can change in 24 hours. About this time yesterday morning, my mom called me. The she was a little frantic on the other end of the line. The conversation went something like this.... Me: Hello Mom: What are you doing? Me: I'm at home. (Said because she called my cell and not my house phone) Mom: I was on the phone with Lisa. She said she was in the middle of the road. I heard a noise. I yelled 'Lisa, Lisa,' and she didn't answer. Finally, she said, 'I've just been hit.' She was at a meeting for work at the DSS place on Cabarrus Avenue. You know where that is, right? And she was going to get food over by Big Lots. I don't know where she is for sure. Can you go find her? Me: I'm gone! I'll call you back. Then I grabbed my water and ran out the door. (I try to never leave home wit...

"Where's my Phone?"

Ever had one of those days where you can't seem to find anything you are looking for? First, let me say that I love to do riddles and brainteasers in my classes with my students.  One of the ones that I use regularly is "Why is it that everything you are looking for is in the last place you look?"  (A: "Because you stop looking when you find it.")  Haha!  It takes some of the kids a few minutes to figure that out.  I LOVE IT! :)  Anyways, on with the story. I love it when someone calls and asks "Where are you?".  You look at the phone (yep, take it from your ear and look at it!), and then you reply, "Where did you call me?"  :)  I do that quite often.  Most of the time, it's because I have forgotten that I called someone on their house/work phone instead of a cell phone. ;)  The other day, however, I was in a funk.  I couldn't find anything.  My car keys were in my hand, and I was searching my pockets and purse fo...

Falling off the face of the earth

Well.... I haven't fallen off the face of the earth, but it sure feels like it. Since last Tuesday, I have FINALLY been placed for my observations for this semester. It's kind of far, but....that means I won't have to go there for my Student Teaching next semester. I should be closer to home for that! lol I have completed a good bit of homework and paperwork. However, there is still a mountain of paperwork to do. Right now though, I am a week ahead (and plan to stay that way) in homework. I just have to finish the reading for the week. :) I have had a VERY successful Girl Scout meeting! I even helped another troop with their meeting. I also helped our Service Unit manager to do a new leader meeting last night. It was fun! :) I have done some GS training! I went Thursday morning with my new assistant leader to the Leader 101 training. It is somewhat different than the training I did just one year ago! I have been scared out of my wits by my dad's accident. On Th...
