Today's the Day........

Right now, I'm trying not to get nervous. I hate going to job fairs. I really need a job, but I just wish that someone would call me and say "Hello? Leslie? I have a job for you. Come Monday and fill out all the paperwork." I can stand in front of churches and groups of people and sing and talk, but I hate talking to people one-on-one. That's probably why I haven't gotten a job yet. I hate interviews and they can tell it. (It's like a dog smelling fear. I'm afraid of all dogs, and they know it!) After the job fair, I have to get Chasity packed. She's having a sleepover at "Auntie Lisie's" house. My child has always called my sister Lisa, but now that's she's 5, she has regressed. She says things like "handie", "armie", "nosey", and "Lisie". I don't know. I guess she feels that she's going up too quickly and wants to go back! lol Anyways.... I have to go straighten my

Fried Brain...

Last night I took my Adolescent Lit mid-term. SO...I'm going to have to be more prepared for the final! This teacher kills me. First we only discuss the books in class. Then she gives us handouts and says "Just read over these". Then...on the test, she expects us to list specific things from the handouts. This is craziness! I guess I'll have to plan to memorize all the details of the books and all the details of the handouts for the final. I just never thought I'd have to list specifics from handouts that were "just for your information". Well....so much for that idea! I'm done with it. It's over! I'm sure I'll get at least a B...then I have to bring that up to an A because I want to graduate from the MAT program with a 4.0! Anyways...have to get ready to go see Ang! She wants her cookies! Until next time........

Getting it Together

This semester, I just can't seem to get my crap together. First, I got sick the beginning of February. That put me a week behind on everything. Then last week my computers at home killed over! That only put me 2 days behind, but still... So today, I turned in an assignment that was due Monday night. I hope the teacher takes it. For a NON-English class, this professor definitely expects a lot of papers. In two weeks, on March 16, my mini-mester American Literature class will start. Tonight is the mid-term to my Adolescent lit class. AND... to top it all off, according to my friend who works at UNCC, the class I need for next semester isn't even offered at a time that I can take it! Just because of this one class, I might be in Grad School for another 10 years! No...not really, but it sure is aggrivating!! Tomorrow, I am meeting with my Mary Kay director. I know she's wanting to know when I'm going to start working my business again. If I knew that, I would h

School Selection Stuff

In the newspaper here on Friday my mom showed me an article about a new Christian Academy that is opening in August 2009. So I decided to check it out. I drove to the school today. (Yes, I know I had already called them to send me information, but I'm just too darn impatient to wait until I get it tomorrow!) I got down there and talked to the lady at the desk. She answered my questions and gave me some information. So I got in the car and started reading the information. I was really naive to think that this school would cost anything less than any other private school in the area. Mom, Tony, and I assumed (and we all know what that does) that it would be cheaper since it is NEW! NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!! It only costs $50/month less than the school I would have put her in....if the price wasn't so high! Now... the problem with the cost is this. Tony and I need a second car...so he has transportation when he's not working! To work he can drive the company van, but

NOT ME MONDAY!!! (I did not do it!) (Well...maybe I did!)

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama . You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week. Ok....so I'm soooo hoping I'm doing this right. I grabbed the button from her (MckMama's) side bar. I grabbed the other text above from in her post today! So I'm hoping this works. Since this is my FIRST EVER "Not Me Monday!", it is a little short! Let's go... First, it was NOT ME who sent a screaming 5 year old out the door to Kindergarten this morning. It was most assuredly not me who looked outside (still in my pajamas) to be sure the neighbors weren't outside staring at my child! (They weren't...this time!) It was also not me that when asked why I wanted to "flatten" my hair for church last night responded to my mother with "Well, why do you always have yours looking like a football helmet?" Needless to say it wasn't me that my mother didn't sp

Weight Update and Other Useless Tidbits of My Life

As of yesterday, I lost another 3 lbs. That puts be at 31 lbs lost in 7 weeks! I'm loving Weight Watchers! (I'm watching the weight go away!) lol I now weigh 285!!! Yesterday turned out really well. Chasity finally calmed down once we actually got to church. Then last night we had a blast at Crossover Kannapolis. I wish everyone could have been there! It was great! I'm still using Lisa's computer! She is so super nice...when she wants to be. :) This Friday, I'm going to be attending a job fair for teachers only. I'm really in need of a job. All of the local school districts will be there, so I will get to interview and talk to them then! (I need to go shopping again to get that outfit I really wanted when I went shopping last Thursday! lol It would be AWESOME for that job fair! Since I think I need to get other things done, I won't be going to the store again this week. I will have to find something else cute to wear to the job fair! :) I

Weekend Follies

So this weekend has been fun....so far! Friday night, Tony and I had to move all the cookies from one location to another. I have had all the Girl Scout cookies in the fellowship hall at my church, but I had to move them because they were having a men's seminar there yesterday. So the cookies are now all in the kitchen at the daycare. Since the daycare opens at 6am in the morning, that means we have to move them all again!!!! I guess we will do that today! Then, yesterday the Girl Scouts and I spent 5 1/2 hours outside the door the to the local WalMart!! We sold 192 boxes of cookies! That's like 34 boxes an hour! lol Today so far, Chasity is pitching a fit! It's 9:03am. She's been up for about an hour. I got up a little later. Her dad was fussing with her trying to get her to eat. So now she has finally finished eating. However, my mom will be here in just a few minutes to pick her up for Sunday School and she's not going to be ready. This means that w

Live from....

....somewhere in the public library. Today's post comes to you from the belly of the Kannapolis branch of Cannon Memorial Library. Yes, I'm a nerd writing a blog from inside the library! Who cares!?!?! A couple of days ago Tony's computer started doing the blue screen thing again. Then yesterday (around noon) the screen went completely out on my computer again! I've already had to have it fixed once, so now I'm having to send it off again. Unfortunately, the computer fixer people are going to completely replace my motherboard. (That sounds so weird to me! lol) Anyways, I'm going to have to get my WONDERFUL brother-in-law to get all my information off my computer for me. Then I can send it off. My WONDERFUL sister (yes, I only have one of those) is going to let me use her laptop for the two weeks that it takes to get my computer fixed. She did the same thing for me last time too. She's so wonderful that I didn't even have to ask her this time.

50th Post! Can you believe it???

Today I thought I'd write something inspiring. Then I decided that I'd just include an update on my world instead. This week has been pretty uneventful. Over the weekend (after I tried to break my ankle) we had Girl Scout cookie booths. We set up our table and sold 114 boxes of cookies in just a couple hours! It was a blast! Monday I went to a Home & Garden Party party. Hmmm...maybe they should work on the name of that.... Anyways...I bought this cute little angel thing to go in Chasity's room. (It's called "In God's Hands".) I wanted more stuff, but I'm saving money to go shopping for new clothes this weekend!!! Yesterday I mailed off my taxes, some clothes (that were borrowed), and some Girl Scout cookies to my sister-in-law in WV. She's wonderful! (I included some surprises in the box, but I can't put them here until she gets the box. She reads this sometimes!) So I should have my taxes done in the next week or so! That mea

Weight Update, My Bday, and Other Stuff

So yesterday I weighed in (at home of course). I am now at 388. OMG! That means I've lost 28 lbs total since starting WW. I lost another 2 lbs last week! I'm so excited! So I had a great weekend! Friday night, we were supposed to go out for my birthday, but my kid sister, Lisa, had to babysit. So we waited until Saturday night to go out! WOW! We went to Applebee's to eat! I love it because they have Weight Watchers stuff on the menu! So I didn't have to really think about what I was eating! I just enjoyed it! It was awesome! Sunday, my parents too me out to eat for my birthday because they didn't go Saturday night with us! We went to a local place for lunch, Mr. C's. I had grilled chicken. It was really good! I was supposed to go SHOPPING yesterday, but....my mother made other plans, so she couldn't go with me. I have to have something to wear to a special church service on Sunday night (next week) so I have to go this week to get something!

Valentine's Day

So every year on Valentine's Day I get a little nostalgic. Of course, it holds special meaning to me. Why? Well....a couple reasons. 1. Nine years ago today, I bought my first car--from someone NOT in the family! This is the car that sits at my parent's house right now. It doesn't run very well. However when I got it, I was driving the tires off of it! It wasn't new, but it was good. This is also the car that I gave to my sister when she turned 16. Tony and I had a car and a truck; three cars was silly. I decided to give it to Lisa. She drove it until she was 17 or 18 and then she bought a little used car. Then my mom started driving the "little blue bouncy car". Yes, it bounces. No...the heat or air do NOT work. Yes...the windows still work. NO...the defroster doesn't work. BUT....it drives! Of course, that was until about 18 months ago. Then mom had to park it because it needed to have work done. In that time, my parents got used to

Weight Update!!

Last week, I didn't weigh myself because I was sick! Plus, I didn't really eat anything much at all last week. I did, however, register for Weight Watchers online. So I did spend time reading up and learning about the program. Today, I got on the scale. Two weeks ago, I weighed 402. Today, I weigh 390! In two weeks, I have lost another 12 lbs. That makes a total of 26 lbs. so far! I'm excited! Yeah, if you look at the previous post about my weight, it says that I started at 412. Yeah... I looked at the paper wrong. I started at 416. I lost 4 lbs the first week. I lost 4 lbs the second week. I lost 6 lbs the third week. Then I didn't weigh in last week. I weighed in today at 12 lbs down! I can tell it mostly in my pants. I HATE for my pants to be baggy, so I buy them to fit! Yesterday, I wore my black dress pants to church and I had to keep pulling them up. I'm going shopping next Sunday with my mom! I'm so happy! Next Sunday is my bday! So..

Snow Day #2

Image
So this week, we had another SNOW DAY! Have I said how much I LOVE LOVE LOVE snow? If not, I LOVE SNOW!!! This time the snow stuck around for a little while. Actually, the snow day was two days ago and we still have snow (in the shade)!!! This was the view outside my front door! Here is my angel running around in my mom's back yard! (She's such a poser! LOL) Here's Chas and Tony making a snowman on our deck. There were still 3" on the deck....we left that alone so they could make the snowman! Finished product! Yes! We were creative with the body parts for the snowman! His eyes are those prickly ball things from the trees behind the house. The nose is a lid from a soda bottle that was laying in the yard. The mouth and arms are twigs that we found in the yard! Last, but not least, Chas and her daddy having a snowball fight! (Glad it wasn't me this time!) I could use another 3-4 snow days, but I think the school system needs to build some in like they

Snow Day #1

Image
On January 20th, we had our first SNOW DAY of the school year. I love snow! I have always loved snow! When I was in school (you know....100 years ago!) we would always have at least two days out of school. However with climate changes taking place, we don't have the snow here that we used to have. So....by early afternoon the snow was gone! BUT.... Chas loved playing in it...while it lasted!! Good thing I have quick reflexes. I shot this picture and ran! Otherwise I would have gotten a snowball to the face!! Here is the snow angel that my angel made! Below is my angel making the snow angel! Look out Mom! Here comes another snow ball! (Yes, I did get hit with that one!) Just look at the happiness in her eyes here! I wish the snow would have stayed longer, but we had fun while it was here. Until next time.......

SNOW DAY!!!

So today is the 2nd snow day of the school year. I think that's funny! Used to, when it snowed, we would get at least two days off at a time. NOW, when it snows, the snow is gone before noon. I'm not sure that is going to happen today since it's only like 18 degrees out there. I just hope that Chasity will sleep in so that we can all get some rest. Maybe if the snow is still out there, we will go outside later...MAYBE! (I'm not much of an outdoorsy person!) Until next time........

I'm a winner!

Image
So yesterday I was sick all day! YICK! Feeling some better today. However, yesterday I didn't even feel like checking my mail or anything. So today I got bunches of love from you guys for my daughter! THANKS SO MUCH! (If she'd just stop fighting the ear drops I think we'll be ok!) AND....I got a message saying that I'm a winner on THE ONE MINUTE WRITER ! I thought that was great! So check out my winning post ! And... check out the rest of C. Beth's blog over there! We write interesting things in a minute or less! Thanks for picking me! Until next time........
