Still Recovering

I still can not sit up without having a headache.  After spending Tuesday to Thursday in the hospital, I ended up back in the ER on Friday night. (I didn't get home from there until about 4am Saturday!) I woke up feeling much better, but then after spending a couple hours at the church doing a yard sale and hot dog sale, Tony had to bring me back home. I got really ill again. Sunday, I went to church but I should have stayed at home. :( I got really sick again. Today, I have been in the bed all day. (I'm getting a little sore from being in the bed all the time!) But, the doctor called in a new medicine for me. Hopefully after a couple doses of it, I will be able to tell a difference.  For now, I rest a lot and pray and hope that the headache goes away so I can get back to life as I know it..... you know... normal (or whatever that is!)!!

Rough Week

I don't know that I would say that this was the worst week of my life, but it does rank very high in the top bad weeks.  As I'm typing this, I'm actually in my bed. It hurts to get out of bed. Actually, I just got out of the hospital yesterday. On Sunday, I got really ill after church. My head was hurting and I felt like I was going to throw up. (Yep! I know..TMI!!) We went with my parents to Mooresville, and I did get sick...... 4 times on the way home.  The trip is only about 25 minutes if you don't have to stop. Monday, I tried to drive to the doctor's office, but I had to stop too many times because of being dizzy and sick that I turned around and came back home. Tony came home from work and took me to the doctor. They gave me a shot for pain and a shot for nausea. The nausea shot worked and I kept down a little food.  Then Tuesday arrived.....  I couldn't even sit up in the bed without getting sick. Mom, Dad, and the Princess took me to the hospital--

I Guess I'm Old School

I love writing! I have always loved writing! I have had this blog for a few years, but I still have a habit of writing in notebooks--on actual paper. I'm old school! Since May 1, 2015, I have been writing in my "Surgery Thoughts" notebooks. Yes, notebookS! There are three of them. My surgeon told me to document my thoughts, my food, my exercise... my journey as a whole. So, on May 1, 2015, I started writing in a composition book. That first day, I wrote about how I was going to work out with my trainer and how I was only 42 days away from surgery. During the past year, I have not written every day. I have written most days. I guess, in the world of technology that we live in, I should probably get used to writing online. Does anyone know how these people make money writing blogs?  I would love to be able to do that!  For now, I'll write here from time to time. One day, I'll write about how I quit my job (right before major surgery!). {It's a &quo

Proof of Life

A couple of weeks ago, I posted (first the first time in 2 years??)!! I am still alive. So... in two years a lot can happen. Let me start with the BIGGEST thing. On July 1, 2014, I went to visit a surgeon. I was at my heaviest weight ever. My doctor had told me that I needed to lose weight (about 1/2 of total weight) in order to regain my life. I visited the surgeon and decided to have the surgery. On June 11, 2015, I walked into the hospital to have surgery. In that year, I lost about 30 lbs. However, I had the Vertical Sleeve surgery. The doctor removed 2/3 of my stomach. On June 10, 2016 (365 days after my surgery--because of leap year), I went in for my one year appointment. I lost 189.5 lbs over the course of the year since my surgery. Wow! I couldn't believe it.  Neither could my doctor!  Everyone in the doctor's office said that I did an awesome job!  I'm so proud of myself!
