Never Enough Time

Most days, there are just not enough hours to finish the "to do list" I have. There just isn't enough time to do all the things I want to do. I really don't even know where to start with my "to do list" most days. However, I'm learning quickly that there simply isn't enough time to do all I need to do with the Princess. In just a couple weeks (34 days), she is going to be finished with 8th grade. We've already enrolled her in high school for next year. But, what scares me the most (in a good way) is that tomorrow morning, we are going to do our FIRST (of many, I'm sure) college tour!  We are going to be touring Appalachian State University. (I went to school there my first year of college, so I wouldn't be opposed to her being there!! Plus... we could get season passes to Tweetsie so when we go visit!!)  It's crazy to think that there are only 4 short years before she is graduating from high school and going to college. ...

I Did Not Fall Off the Face of the Earth!

Image
Although I haven’t written anything in about 2 months here, I did not fall off the face of the earth. I have, however, sat at the computer wanting to write. Some days it just doesn’t happen.    I have a writing job for the summer—$8/article and I can write at least 2 an hour.   That’s more than I make teaching!  No!  I’m not kidding!  lol  (It’s sad!)   I get to go back to work in just a couple of weeks.  Actually…..  two weeks from today!  WOW!  Same school! More kids.  This year, I’m teaching regular Freshman English and Mythology.  I’ll have about 35 kids in each class!  (I know, right?!)   We went to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge on Vacation last month.  We took Mom and Dad with us!  We love going there. We went to a few shows.  Maybe… just maybe…. I’ll do a post about that!    I am now a CRIMINAL MINDS fanatic!  I love this show!  I had never watched an entir...

Catching Up….Again!

Image
I haven’t written in a few days again. I really hope that when I get back to work next week, I will get back to writing here every day.   Yes! I go back to work next week. I’m excited and scared. It’s the same thing I did last year at the same school. I’m not scared, just anxious. New kids. New co-workers. New boss.     I have open house at for my kids on Thursday evening. The Princess has Open House at her new school next Thursday also. We are going to have to work that one out.     Monday and Tuesday of this week, I did not feel well. I was so dizzy on Monday that I had to have the Princess to take care of me. I slept for almost 2 hours and felt better. Tuesday I felt much better….just a little residual dizziness. It happens sometimes. I’m afraid to tell my doc because the meds they are suggesting will take me away from driving for 6 months. That means that I won’t be able to get to work.   That’s not good.    I have gotten into ...

Slacking Off

Image
I have noticed that I have been slacking off on my writing here. I have not written every day like I was before school let out. It’s not a bad thing I guess, but I feel weird when I have had a day or so off. I never know what to come back to write about.   Work starts back on August 19th officially for me. School starts back for the Princess on August 26th.   We have had two vacations already this year. We are looking at two more. That’s the best part about me having a job. We get to plan to do more things.  More pictures for the scrapbooks. More time with the Princess and the family.   For Labor Day, I think we are going to go to Boone and visit Tweetsie. The Princess earned tickets through Girl Scout cookie sales again. I think we will head up there that weekend.   Then…right after Christmas, we are planning to kidnap my parents and head to Gatlinburg again. This will be the third year in a row! The first year was to get Tony some new boots. ...

2012: A Year in Review (Part 4)

Image
If you want to catch up on this tale, read Part 1 , Part 2 , and Part 3 .    We have arrived to Labor Day.  September!!!   We did not have any softball games that weekend.  We rented a small SUV and drove to Boone, NC.  That is one of my most favorite places….EVER!  It has Appalachian State University and Tweetsie Railroad !   I attended App State as a Freshman in college.  Music major.  Totally different post.   For the past two years, Chasity has earned “Cookie Points” for selling Girl Scout cookies.  With those points, she can get tickets to places and Gift Certificates to places.    The first year (2011) she got a bowling party, $25 card to Build-a-Bear , and 2 tix to Tweetsie.  Last year (2012) she got $25 card to Applebee’s , $25 card to Build-a-Bear, and 2 tix to Tweetsie.  Who knows how many points she will get this year (2013) and what she will get for them!?    So...

So much to do......So little time

I have so much to do: Finish my personal paper for school Finish all my modules for school Finish my final paper for school Finish packing to move Go to Tweetsie Get everything ready for work Have Chasity's birthday party Start new classes online at UNCC.  I only have 2 left!  Then I will graduate in December 2012!! Apply for Graduation. Get cap/gown for Graduation. I really do have a lot to do.  Next week, I start work so I guess I need to get it all done now! :)

Happy Birthday Princess Chasity!

Wow! This morning I woke up at 4:30am. I showered and got dressed. By 6:15am, Tony and Chasity were also ready. We made a couple of really quick stops and headed to Blowing Rock! We stopped at McDonald's in Mooresville for breakfast! Then we hit I-77 and climbed the mountain! :) We made it to Tweetsie around 9:30am! Around 10am, I had to buy a new memory card for my camera because I had finished filling up the one that I purchased in June! lol We took pictures on the horses and carriages. Then we rode "Tweetsie"!! The show on the train ride was AWESOME! Chasity told the cowboy that was on our train car that today was her birthday. Then she asked to have her pic taken with him. :) She told EVERYONE it was her birthday! The Can-Can dancers and Diamond Lil sang the birthday song to her. They said, "It's her birthday. Are you ready girls?" Then they sang, "This is your birthday song. It isn't very long! Hey!" Th...

Interview

Before I went into the interview today, I had a conversation with God. I said, "I didn't even apply for this job. It's not listed on the website. Maybe YOU picked this one for me. I have been applying for jobs that *I* want. Maybe this is what YOU want for me. So when I get in there, just let this be an easy interview." Honestly, I sat there talking to those two Assistant Principals like I had known them for years. At one point, one of them asked me a yes/no question. I said "yeah, I do." Then I stopped myself and said, "I am so sorry. That was rude. Yes sir...." Then I answered the question for him. I spoke with one AP then he called in another one. However, when it was just the first AP in there with me, he asked a question. Then when the other AP came in, he told him about my answer. I think it went really well. They said they have to make a decision by Friday. Maybe I'll get the call when I'm on the mo...

Birthday Week 2011

Chasity's birthday is on Thursday. So....she has decided that this whole week should be used to celebrate her. In all reality, 8 years ago, this whole week was dedicated to her. I wasn't sure what day she would come, so I spent many of my days finishing her nursery, making sure all our stuff was packed for the hospital, and getting paperwork ready to take with us to the hospital. Then, I went into labor on Sunday, August 17th at 6pm. Chasity was born August 18th at 2:10am! Not bad! I was only in labor for 8 hours. One-and-a-half of those hours was spent riding to the hospital. We lived in Concord at the time and she was born in Winston-Salem. :) Now, I have the best kid in the world!!! And, I tell her that every day! We are planning to go to Tweetsie Railroad on Thursday (if Tony can get off work)!! Her party is on Saturday! Tomorrow, we are hanging out at the daycare for just a little bit, but then we are going to go find a bakery to do the...
