Weekend Flew By!

Image
Wow!  I can’t believe another weekend is gone.  Time flies by so quickly!  June is over.  Today is July 1st!    July 1st means I have a new boss.  My principal from this past school year is taking a different job (a higher job) with the school system.  One of the assistant principals is becoming the principal today!  I’m excited.  She is great to work with.   On Saturday, we got up early and went to SC.  Their was a death in Tony’s family, so we went to the memorial service. Then we had time to spend with family we hadn’t seen in a couple of years.   That’s always good.  That makes for interesting Facebook pictures!   Saturday morning, Tony found a tick on his hip.  He pulled it off, treated the area, and kept the tick.  Yesterday, he went to Urgent Care to get checked out…as a precaution.  Doc said to just keep an eye on it for a couple of weeks, gave him a Tetanus shot, and sent him o...

Mixed Emotions

Image
Last night, the Celebration Ceremony for Girl Scouts was great!  I’m finished for the year, except for one event where I just have to show up, eat, and watch awards!  lol   I do have to do my TROOP awards, but those are in about 4 weeks. I have a couple days to rest first!    Today, I’m having mixed emotions.  My pastor’s dad is being buried today.  I’m sad for that.  He’s in a better place….that’s good. My emotions are crazy because I’m here at home.  My parents and my sister (and her hubs) went to the funeral—6 hours away.  Mother’s Day is tomorrow.  My dad’s birthday is tomorrow!  I won’t get to see either of them tomorrow because they are staying in Elizabeth City again tonight.     Kinda stinks.   Anyways….. softball today….at noon!  GO TARHEELS!  If we win today and both games next week, we will be in 1st place!!!

Heavy Heart

Before I tell why my heart is heavy, let me get some good news out! 1.  Chasity sold over 1000 boxes of cookies!  WOW!  That's a new record for her.  We are excited.  It means she will get a Kindle Fire.  (I think she is going to take my Kindle full time for now and we will share the Kindle Fire!) :)  2. Today is Friday!  That means that tomorrow is Saturday!  I get to scrapbook tomorrow for 12 hours! :)  LOVE IT!  Can't wait to see my triplets! :)  3. Our first softball practice is tonight!  We are going to get to meet team and see how things are looking. Now, for my heavy heart. On Wednesday, I got a message from my mom that my Uncle Bud (my Papaw Paul's brother-in-law) was in the hospital in critical condition.  It wasn't very long until I got a message that said, "I hate to tell you this over text, but Papaw just called and Uncle Bud passed."  :(  So, tonight, I will be getting in a car with ...

Heartbroken and Rejoicing

It has been a strange, long, busy month. I will (I promise to try) get some pics and info up for what has been going on this past month. Right now, my heart is broken, but I am rejoicing. Yesterday at 3:29pm, God called my Grandma Edwards home. This is my mom's mom. She would be 93 on July 30th. She had been sick for 2 weeks.....exactly.....14 days. She has 4 children still living--mom, Uncle Tommy, Uncle Arbeth, and Aunt Rhonda. Mom and Uncle Tommy live here in town. So they helped the nursing home to take care of her. (YES! We had to help them because they did not always do their jobs!) Aunt Rhonda now lives in GA. She was living in SC, but her hubby got a job in GA so she had to move. Uncle Arbeth is the oldest. He's in his 70s. His health isn't great, but he still gets around from day-to-day. His wife has Alzheimer's. He lives about an hour away. The nursing home called the family in on Tuesday. Mom and Uncle Tommy basically moved in up there. They o...

When All Is Said And Done

....I still feel numb. When all is said and done, I know my Grandmother is better off. I know she's walking and talking and looking into the eyes of Jesus. I know that I'll get to see her one day. However, I'm still a little numb today. On Monday, we had the funeral for my Grandmother. It was beautiful. I saw friends and family this weekend that I hadn't seen in a long time. That's the best thing about funerals. But, I'm still numb. Dad said that he feels like there's a big empty spot in his heart. We all know that it will just take time for the emptiness to go away. Today, I still feel numb. Things are getting back to normal. School for Chasity. Work for Tony, Mom, and Dad. Family time. Friends. Church. Girl Scouts. Everything--the whole routine--will be back to "normal" (whatever that is) soon. It's just that today....I feel numb! I'm going to miss my Grandmother forever. Right now, I try not to think about it too much. My ey...

Catching up is Hard to Do...

The past couple of days have been hard. Monday we had the viewing for my Aunt JoAnn. Yesterday we had the funeral. He son (my cousin), Scott, spoke of his mother during the funeral. He told stories that she used to laugh about all the time. Like the time that she was headed to work and decided to drive through the car wash. When she got into the car wash, the water started spraying in her face through her open windows. She couldn't see to get the windows up so the car, inside and out, got a good wash....and she showed up for work a little water logged. Another story he told was about when she was going to the doctor's office one day. She and another of her son's Boyd parked in front of the wrong office. She decided they could walk to where they were really supposed to be. Between the two offices was a ravine and she slid in the mud in the ravine. Without even having to ask anyone, the staff got her a gown to put on and took her clothes and washed them for her so s...

Numb

So... this is what numb feels like. This has been one crazy week. With VBS every night, I have been getting very little sleep. Then I spend the day working on VBS stuff and then go to VBS at night. When I got home, I'd crash! Today, I spent all day (from 7a-4:30p) with Girl Scout leaders. I had Kick-Off training today. So, I went there. I got up at 5:30 today. I was out of the house by 6:30 to take Chasity to my mom's house (Tony had to work) and head to the carpool. Then I spent 9a-4p in classes (3 classes with 10 minutes between and 30 minutes for lunch). When I called home to let mom know I was on the way, she said she was getting ready to go see my Grandma. So I took her and Chasity there when I got to mom's house. However...when I got to Mom's house, she told me that my Aunt JoAnn--who has been sick for a while with Cancer--died this morning. Her funeral and everything will be the beginning of the week. So, I have to get ready to sing there. I told her ...
