Car vs Deer: Who Wins?

Image
On Saturday morning, Tony, Chasity, and I were headed to Banner Elk, NC, to check out Lees-McRae College (a separate post about that coming later!)!  According to GPS, it is about 2.5 hours to get there. We left about 6:30am for a 9:30am start time for the Open House event.  We were about 35 miles away; Chasity and I were both sleeping, as usual. Tony hit the brakes, and it woke me up. I opened my eyes just in time to see and feel a deer hit the side of my van.  Tony said it came from the woods on the right side of the highway, and he slowed down and moved over. The deer sped up and CRUNCH! This is what my van looks like now. We are waiting on the insurance people to call us and set up all the fixing information.  Tony had to pull that really bent part off of the tire so we could drive and not split a tire!  Yes! That is deer hair on the car!!!  Once we got pulled over by the guardrail, Tony got out and checked the damage. He was about to call 9-1-1 when tw...

Writing Challenge--Day #8

I took a few days off to spend time with my family for Thanksgiving!  I hope you all enjoyed your time with family/friends/co-workers--whomever you spent Thanksgiving with! There are links to all the other Writing Challenge posts on Day #7 . I know in the beginning I said there are 60 days to this challenge.  However, I have thought about it, and I think I'm going to do the first 10 days. I have started writing on a regular basis.... which was the point. So, now, I'm going to write about other things.... not just the challenge topics. Today's Challenge is actually quite appropriate.  It's about Thanksgiving. Today's Challenge: "Make a list of 10 things for which you are thankful." Making a list is easy. Leaving it just in list form is hard for me. :) I'm Thankful For.... 1. God--He is so awesome. He supplies everything I need. He is there no matter what and loves me no matter what. I have failed Him so many times, but He has never fail...

So every year on Valentine's Day I get a little nostalgic. Of course, it holds special meaning to me. Why? Well....a couple reasons. 1. Nine years ago today, I bought my first car--from someone NOT in the family! This is the car that sits at my parent's house right now. It doesn't run very well. However when I got it, I was driving the tires off of it! It wasn't new, but it was good. This is also the car that I gave to my sister when she turned 16. Tony and I had a car and a truck; three cars was silly. I decided to give it to Lisa. She drove it until she was 17 or 18 and then she bought a little used car. Then my mom started driving the "little blue bouncy car". Yes, it bounces. No...the heat or air do NOT work. Yes...the windows still work. NO...the defroster doesn't work. BUT....it drives! Of course, that was until about 18 months ago. Then mom had to park it because it needed to have work done. In that time, my parents got used to ...
