Holy Hiatus “Batman”!

Wow!  I can’t believe I went two days without writing.  I have gotten in such a habit that now it just feels strange.   There isn’t much going on in these parts right now. 1. Saturday—Softball was cancelled, but they are rescheduling for THIS Saturday.  8:30am!  (Hooray for waking up early on Saturdays!)   2. Sunday—We officially told our pastor and his wife that we are leaving the church.  They tried really hard to get us to stay, but we aren’t leaving because of them.  It’s the other stuff (some other people) that are killing our church.  Unfortunately, it’s really the only church the Princess has ever known.  We started attending there in June 2003.  She was born in August 2003.  10 years!  A decade!!   3. Monday—I took my dad to get his hearing aid fixed.  Simple enough… the filter was clogged.  He had already cleaned it.  But…. still clogged.  New filter—no charge—now he can hear...

A Little Bit of Nothing

Today was supposed to be busy.   Softball at 9am. Graduation (for work) at 10:45am. Home to clean/work 12:30pm.   This morning, we got the email that all games were cancelled.  Left me with no softball.     Went to work graduation.  Finished. Came home.   Fell asleep on the couch for 2 (almost 3) hours.  I must have been tired.  I don’t remember anything other than falling asleep!!    Now, it’s almost 10pm.  We are finally going to eat supper. Then we are going to crash.   Tomorrow is SUNDAY FUNDAY.  We have church at the park.  Then I’m going to be telling the pastor that we are leaving the church.  It’s time.  I have a long story to go with that…. lots of them actually.  However, I am keeping those.  (Some things just don’t need to be said!)  So we are in the market for a new church…  I’m sure we will try out a couple old ones (i.e. where I grew up) for ...

Biting My Tongue and Biding My Time

So, I have plenty to say this morning.  However, I’m trying really hard to operate under my mom’s philosophy of “If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all!”    Something happened at my church on Sunday.  When I am calmer, I will explain it.  I just found out yesterday who did it.  (I pretty much knew because this is the only person stupid enough to do it!)   Anyways, this person’s actions sent my Dad into a lot of stress.  So Sunday afternoon, he had a really bad episode with his heart.  He is still not up to 100% yet, and it’s Wednesday!    My parents have actually asked me to keep my mouth shut.  I’m trying.  But, something needs to be said/done.  I’m not a member of the church, so they can’t really run me off.  Tony and I have been thinking about leaving for a while now.   So, I’m going to be having my say.  Then…. I’m not going back.  I hate to leave my Dad hangi...

Pulling the Weekend Together

Yesterday, I had a million RANDOM things to do. Surprisingly enough, we got them all done.  We (the Princess) played softball.  They lost by 4, but it’s better than losing by 10 like the last time they played this team! GO TARHEELS! Donnie had to work (umpiring games) so he got there late, but Tony did a great job with the girls until he got there!   We got the van checked out.  Turns out that the Check Engine light was on because I put too much gas in the van.  Hmmmm…. on newer cars, there is a sensor in the gas tank.  If you get it wet (with gas) it will turn on the Check Engine light.  If you do it repeatedly, it will ruin the sensor.  How do you NOT get gas on it?  Well, when the gas pump clicks to say that the tank is full, just stop pumping!  (Who knew?!?!?)    After that, we went to watch my oldest nephew play baseball.  Then we went to supper at Mayflower (a seafood place) with my parents.  ...

The Blur

Image
Starting today, this weekend is going to be a BLUR! Today, I have a meeting.  It’s like a teacher workday when the kids are in school!    It will be fun.  The girls I will be with are fabulous!   Then we have softball practice tonight, if they don’t cancel it from the rain we had LAST night!   Then I have to get the food for the Daddy-Daughter Dance (LUAU) for Girl Scouts.    I have to come home and make new CDs for the music.  The ones I have are good, but they aren’t long enough… not enough songs.   Tomorrow is softball.  Dance decorating.  Dancing.  Cleaning!   Sunday, I’m supposed to do the induction ceremony for Phi Kappy Phi at UNC, but I don’t think I’m going.    I have choir practice at the  same time.   So…. here goes the BLUR!!!

Classic Sunday

Today, we have a pretty busy day! We have church this morning.  Lunch.  Then....  the dreaded getting ready to go back to school/work tomorrow!  I'm not looking forward to 4am!  However, if I look at it really well, I only have 9 more weeks to do that!  Then.... it's SUMMER break! Today is going to be a classic Sunday.  It's what we do for 10 months.  Church. Lunch. Get ready for school/work on Monday!!! I'm kind of excited to see what my kids did over the break!  :)

Easter 2013

Image
This   morning, the alarm went off at 4am.  We all (except maybe the Princess) were up and trying to get ready for Easter SONrise Service at church.  It started at 6am.   Afterwards, we had breakfast with everyone at church.   We came home for a nap and to change into our church clothes.  (We wear jeans and sneakers to SONrise Service!)   After regular service, we went out to eat with the family, as usual.  There was also a new friend with us!   Then we came home to rest.  We were supposed to work on the house.  However, we all crashed (except for the Princess!)!!  I think she might be wide awake because she slept through SONrise service…only waking in time to eat breakfast.  Then she slept through the regular service—waking up only in time to eat lunch!    That’s the Princess!    HAPPY EASTER!

Girl Scout Sunday

Today is Girl Scout Sunday!  Girl Scout Sunday begins the week that encompasses March 12th.  March 12th is the birthday/anniversary of Girl Scouts.  This is Girl Scouts 101st year!  Today, in church, the girls (who remember to show up) are going to participate in a flag ceremony. They are going to recite (read from posters) the Girl Scout Law and Girl Scout Promise.  Then, two of the girls are going to receive the morning offering at the church.  In some ways, it's good that the church is small.  Sometimes, I wish there were more people though! Girl Scout week ends on Girl Scout Sabbath.  That is next Saturday!  I hope you enjoy your GS Sunday, GS Week, and GS Sabbath!

Brain Full

Some days I feel like I have nothing to say.  I feel like what I'm writing isn't really relevant to anything that is really happening. Some days I feel like I can't write what is on my mind.  I'm afraid I will hurt people or make them mad. Some days I just don't know how to say what I want to say.  (Ever had those days?) Today, though, I have lots on the brain.  My brain is completely full.  However, the things on my brain are trivial, trite, random things. For example, my parents are having an issue with the neighbor's dog. It's a really aggressive pit bull.  If it comes up and tries to attack either of my parents, they wouldn't be able to get away from it.  So, they have called Animal Control a few times already.  However, my dad is going to warn the neighbors that if the dog is in his yard again, he's going to shoot it.  He can't get away from it.  Mom can't run from it.  My parents have too many kids and grandkids (and t...

2012: A Year in Review (Part 1)

Image
In 2012, we had some ups, some downs.  We did some things that we loved, hated, and some that we NEVER want to do again! In January, Chasity decided she wanted to cheer.  So… we signed her up.  She made some new friends.  Unfortunately, it was very unorganized.  (We are not used to that with sports.  Softball for the same organization is very organized.)  So, she decided by March that she HATED cheering.  That’s okay!  She still loves Softball. Softball registration is in January.  The evaluation day and draft are in February.  That means that by the end of February, you are practicing Softball.  Then the games start in March.    This year, her team was the “Mets”.  They were the season and tournament CHAMPS!!!  We had the best coach ever!  We are hoping to play for him again this Spring!   Easter was fun.  We had an Easter Egg Hunt at church.  (It was after the Su...
