Getting Old Really Stinks

A couple of weeks ago, m right thumb started hurting. Progressively over those weeks, it has gotten worse. More tender. More red. More swollen. Finally, on Friday, I was learning to become a lefty because I couldn't move my thumb without pain shooting up my right arm. My mommy, THANKS MOM, made me go to the doctor. We weren't in there more than an hour, but I came out with a diagnosis of arthritis and inflammation. (The inflammation has a really long 3 word name, but I can't remember it.) I'm in an "awesome" brace on my thumb and up my wrist. Doc said to wear it 4-6 weeks.  Mom and I both looked at her and said, "FOUR TO SIX WEEKS?!?!" I'm on medication for the inflammation. I really didn't realize everything that my thumb does.... until I can't move it to do things.... like hit the space bar! What would you miss most about not being about to use one of your fingers?

Good News and Bad News

Over the past few weeks, we have been doing Gluten-free and Lactose-free for the Princess. She has been having stomach pain when she eats certain foods. Doctor tested for Celiac.  It's not that.  (Good news) Doctor sent her for allergy tests. We did those yesterday. Good news..... NO food allergies. Bad news... NO answer for what's causing pain!  Good news.... found out what else she's allergic to. Bad news.... Unfortunately, she's like me.... allergic to most everything else.  Just to name a few (cats, dogs, tree pollen, grasses--except 2, pollen, dust) Now.... we have to figure out the best option for working with (or treating) her allergies. We also have to wait to see what the doctor says is the next move for figuring out the food/stomach thing.  I'm NOT the world's most patient person.  So..... the waiting game is NO fun for me. Why is that when you go to the doctor (or just about anywhere) there is always good news and bad news....

I'm Getting Old

After a couple years of my knees hurting, I finally went back to the doctor today. It's official. I have arthritis in my knees. THANKS MOM! My mom has this also.  Apparently, this is hereditary. I have two (yes TWO) siblings.... she could have passed this to one of them.  NOPE... She passed it to me. Her, my Grandma, had it. She had her knees replaced. Mom has it. She NEEDS her knees replaced, but she keeps putting it off. She wants to wait until she retires, but we all know she's NEVER going to retire.  So, I'm not sure when she's going to have it done! I have it. It's early. No knee replacement talk for me. (BUT... I'm guess I'm going to REALY get old one day and they will start talking about it!) Anyways, today, I got Cortisone shots! Do you know how bad those hurt????  REALLY BAD! I cried. After the doc finished my right knee, she asked if I still wanted the left one done. The RIGHT one, is the good one.  The LEFT one is the worst one....
