Nothing Good

So were you raised with the "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" philosophy that I was raised with? If you were, then you'll understand why I have not posted in a couple of days. I have NOTHING NICE TO SAY. It's not that things have been going badly around here. It's just that I've been in a really bad mood for a few days. (I will figure it out eventually....hopefully!)! So...since I have nothing nice to say, I just wanted to say HI! So that....you know....you know I haven't fallen off the face of the earth! Until next time........

Scheduling Appointments and Visiting the Doctor

Earlier today, I had to call Chasity's doctor's office. There are 7-8 doctors in the one office, so I know they are busy. However, if I call and need to ask a question or schedule an appointment, someone should answer the phone...right? Well...I pulled to the top of the hill at my driveway. While I checked for traffic, I dialed the doctor's number. I drove to Chasity's school. I asked for them to send Chasity to the office for check out. I waited on Chasity. I talked to Chasity's teacher. I put Chasity in the car. I drove to the doctor's office. Did any see that I had spoken to the doctor's office? No? That's because I hadn't! When I went in the office, I was STILL on hold. 20 minutes and 49 seconds to be exact. When it was my turn to talk to the nurse behind the counter, I hung up. I did however SHOW her my phone. I did NOT like the fact that I had been on hold for 20 minutes. I told her that I needed to have my daughter seen for ear pain. She said.

Weekend Recap

On Friday night, Chasity and I went to a Girl Scout mock sleepover. Until recently, Daisy Girl Scouts were not allowed to have actual sleepovers. (Daisies are Kindergarten and 1st grade Girl Scouts.) So our Service Unit planned a mock sleepover. They called it the "Princess Jammie Jam"! There were games, balloons, dancing, food, and even tiaras! There were dress up clothes for the girls! Everything was PINK! :) We did the Electric Slide, Bunny Hop, and the Cha-Cha Slide. During the fun and games, I popped my right knee. It didn't start hurting or anything so I thought it was fine. Saturday morning, I woke up to a swollen knee that I couldn't bend. Mom and I went to a few yard sales. We really weren't looking for anything specific, but we love just going to look. I got Chasity a set of 10 books (it's a series) for $2...YES! The SET for $2. I also got her an "I Spy" computer game and the "High School Musical 2" soundtrack. Eac

Getting Started

Image
So yesterday began my journey of learning to sew. Technically all I did yesterday was pick a pattern and some material! BUT...that's more than I've ever done! I am happy with what I accomplished. :) So this morning, I decided to read the instructions (like my mom told me to)! Then I cut out the pieces we are going to need. The dress has 4 pieces (front, back, and front & back facing). So I cut those first. (The picture only has the front and back in it.) Then I just out the pieces (3--front, back, and sleeve) for the jacket! Now, I am ready to pin it down and cut the material. However.... I think I need to go get some straight pins. (Maybe my mom will have some!) I only keep SAFETY PINS in my house! :) But... if I'm going to learn to sew, I need to get SOME of the tools! :) For now, I'm happy with what I have done. So far, I've done it all on my own! Once Mom shows me how to pin the material down and cut it out, I will do most of that myself

Jumping In

So.... my mom told me that to start with, she will show me some basics for sewing. I am a little worried about mom being near me with scissors (lol).....but.... I'm gonna do it! Guess what I got today? A pattern! Yep! It's from the "Sewing Patterns for Dummies" series! It LOOKS simple. However, I'm NOT the craftiest person I've ever met (though I do TRY to be)....so I'm looking at this as an adventure. Want to see the pattern I bought? Mom and I are going to make the dress. I took Chasity to the store after school today. We (ok SHE) picked out cute cute cute material. It's a lime green with hot pink polka dots....small dots! I did have to steer her away from the pink and purple tie-dye she first wanted. I thought we should attempt this with something that wouldn't be too hard to get the pattern to match! :) AND... for the jacket, we have a solid hot pink! I will keep you updated as we work on this. I have to read the instructions that came with th

Still Learning

Ok...so I'm always learning something new. However, recently, I have seriously been thinking about something. I want to learn to sew. My mom has a sewing machine I can use any time I want to. Of course, if I really learn to sew, I'd want my own sewing machine! ;) Anyways, I have been checking into classes. I have only found one place in my town that does classes. They offer a 4 week class for $115. That's not bad for a class. But, I'm afraid I wouldn't learn in 4 weeks and I'd need to take the class again! lol Anyways, I'm still looking into it. I'd love to learn. I will one day. However, I've seen some REALLY cute things that I'd love to sew for Chasity to wear! :) Until next time........

Playing "Mustard"

When I was in high school, I had a teacher that would say we were having a "mustard" day instead of a "ketchup" (catch up) day. Chasity and I had a great time last week during Spring Break. Thursday, we went t have our nails (hand and feet) done. I have pics to post of that soon! Friday night, I had a sleepover with the area Girl Scouts. I had to help them to get ready to Bridge up to the next age level. Now, I need to plan the ceremony that goes with it! That will be in a couple weeks. Right now, I'm trying to wrap my brain around how OSHA and NC Labor Laws do not regulate how long a person can work. That's right! In NC, according to the NC Department of Labor, (and I just spoke with them this morning) there is no law that says your employer has to allow you breaks and time to eat. Crazy right? Well, listen to this. My husband went to work around 8am yesterday morning. He hasn't come home yet! He's been at work (and working) for more than

Getting to Know Me... The Answers

Yesterday I posted some truths and lies about myself. Today, I'm going to tell you which are which. 1. True....As a Girl Scout Leader, I have to be a registered Girl Scout. When I was younger, I was a Brownie Girl Scout. Last year, I started a troop so that I could be my daughter's leader. Now, I have been a Girl Scout for two years of my adult life. It's fun! I have learned a lot of things in the past two years. 2. Lie...I do NOT love animals. I do NOT hate animals either, but I do not like animals. I have a saying (and please don't get mad) that the best kind of dog is on a bun with chilli! lol I'm allergic to anything with fur. I used to have a dog, but had to give it away because of my allergies. I had a rabbit too, but... yeah.... allergies! lol I do not like animals! PLUS.... I'm a TERRIFIED of dogs. I got bit once when I was eight! So, I have been afraid of dogs ever since! 3. True...I have several (a couple hundred) sets of salt-and-peppe

Blog Interview

Remember how I said I was "interviewed" (online) by BlogInterviewer.com? Well... here is the link to my interview. Please check it out! If you vote for me, I could win....something! :) Until next time.....

Getting to Know Me

Yesterday, over at Musings from Mommy Land , I was reading about getting to know people. She said that she had played a game called "Two truths and a lie". You tell two things that are true and one lie. So, on her blog, she decided to do 3 truths and 3 lies. So, I decided to do the same. I'm going to give you 3 truths and 3 lies. Then, tomorrow, I'll tell you the answers (hopefully....if I can remember!) :) So... here goes.... you are free to try to guess in the comments which are true and which are false if you wish. 1. I am a Girl Scout. 2. I love animals. 3. I collect salt and pepper shakers. 4. I have a brother and a sister. 5. My dream job is to drive a race car. 6. I want to be President some day. OK....so have fun guessing. I'll tell you the answers tomorrow..... :) Until next time........

Emotional Easter

WARNING: This post is going to be REALLY long. Don't say you weren't warned! This is the post I have tried to convince myself not to write so that no one's feelings get hurt. However, my feelings got hurt, and so I have a right to write about it! :) Right? I'm not trying to hurt anyone with this, I'm just trying to sort things out in my brain. Writing is my best outlet for that. Anyways, I should preface this by saying that I come from a family that travels in herds/gaggles/armies/groups/whatever you call the large group of people you go out to eat with or hang out with most of the time. This weekend, we had some people come into town. We were invited Friday night to go out to eat with them at 7pm at a restaurant that is infamous for making you wait at least an hour around 7pm. There were going to be 8 adults and 5 kids.....13 total (I think!)! (That's about the normal size for the "army" we travel with here.) The other 10 people arrived around

Considering....

I'm considering how to write a post that will not injure the feelings of people who may read it. I have things in my brain right now that need to come out, but I will have to work them around in a way that will not "hurt" people. Sometimes I hate trying to be a better person. lol I really wish I could just say what I want to say. Anyways.... I will. I just have to get it all together in my brain so that it comes out right! :) Until next time........
