Junior Gold National Tournament, 2021: Indianapolis, Indiana

Image
Junior Gold National Tournament, 2021 Indianapolis, IN In 2019, we went to Detroit, MI, for almost two weeks so that Chasity could compete in the Junior Gold National Championships. She qualified in May of that year, we we took off to Michigan in July.  This year, 2021, we took off on July 8 to Indiana. We drove through a few states to get there. On the way back, we stopped in Kentucky (to see Church Hill Downs) and Pigeon Forge (just because).  On the way to Indiana, we saw a lot of rain, but we saw some beautiful clouds after it.  After one of Chasity's practice sessions, we went to downtown Indianapolis. We found Lucas Oil Stadium where the Indianapolis Colts play. We did not go for a tour, but we did drive around and take a lot of pictures. Chasity took pictures on my phone. I used my camera.  Between her 2nd and 3rd practice sessions, we went to the Indianapolis State Fairgrounds . That place is H.U.G.E! We had to do registration so she could get her badge and b...

Hilton Head

Image
As promised, here are some of the pics from Hilton Head.  We arrived on Friday to this room.  Nice…right?  The only problem was that we were supposed to have queen beds.  We had doubles.  (A little short, but they worked!)   That evening, Tony and the Princess walked to the beach.  It was a little far for me.  My legs and back were hurting from being in the car for so long.   In order to get the fabulous deal we got, we had to go to a 90-120 minute presentation on Saturday at noon.  It started at noon, and we were back in the car by 2pm.  If we were going to buy a timeshare, these would be the people to deal with.  They weren’t pushy.  When we said “no,” they did make ONE more effort (change price, down payment, etc.).  BUT…after we said “no” again, they shook our hands and took us back to the front door.  Friendly.  Polite.  Did not seem upset that we did not purchase.  Nice. W...

Almost Over

I can’t believe that in the morning we are going to be leaving to head home.  The weekend is almost over!  That’s crazy!   Now I am going to need a vacation from my vacation!  LOL  Isn’t that how it always goes?

Getting the Complaining Out of the Way

Image
So we are in Hilton Head.  It’s beautiful.  Everything is “hidden” behind trees.   Points of issue: 1.  The “beach resort” is a 10-15 minute walk to the actual beach.  2. It’s hot!  (LOL  No one can control that.  But… you all know I prefer winter!) 3. Most everything we have wanted to do is across the bridge.  That means $1.25 each way for the toll.  4. It’s still hot!   I guess those are my only real complaints.   Darn!  I was hoping to find something to complain about!  (Just Kidding!!!)   Guess I’m just having a good vacation!

The Last Monday

Image
I know you guys are probably getting tired of hearing about my countdown.    I’m just so excited that the Princess is almost finished with this year at school.    So….today is THE LAST MONDAY for her (and me).  After Friday of this week, she can hang out, watch TV, play/read on her Kindle Fire, and relax……until August.   Of course, she LOVES to read, so we will see how many books she reads this summer.   I’m still trying to get some writing jobs for the summer. Just to make a little extra cash.  There are some that are for doing book reviews.  I would love to do those.     But….for now, I’m going to enjoy my last Monday.  Even though it’s pouring rain outside.

Ready for a Break

Last night, I attended my last required meeting for Girl Scouts for the year.  We did our Adult Awards Banquet.  That means that my year as a Service Unit team member is over!    That also means that all I have left is to complete my Troop Scout Year, and a little paperwork, and I am finished for the year.    Our final troop meeting is the week after school lets out so that I have time to go get badges/awards for the girls!   Then, we have some fun stuff, camping/trip/etc. over the summer, but other than that, we don’t do anything until August!    I’m so ready for a break, and I think my girls are too!   18 school days left (12 teaching—6 exams!)

I Love Countdowns!

Image
The current countdown is for the number of days left in school. Unless I counted incorrectly (which is totally possible) we only have 34 days left of school!  That means that we have 7 weeks (excluding ONE Monday for Memorial Day!)   That means that I have 6 weeks and 3 days to finish everything I am going to finish with them!  I have to get a lot of stuff completed, but my kids are great!    At the end of this week, they will have fewer than 30 days left!  I think that will excite them.  I’m hoping it will get them working harder!     We are starting something new today.  I hope they will like it!

Three Hour Workday and then a Week Off!!

At 8am this morning, I am going in to work for 3 hours.  :(  Then I am leaving.... claiming my munchkin from my mommy's house (since she had a sleepover there to avoid getting up so early this morning)...and going Easter SHOE shopping.  We have the dress, we just need cute little white shoes or sandals to go with it! Then I am going to come home....sit on my couch...and do NOTHING until time for softball practice tonight.  My Spring Break starts at 11am today!  I'm so excited to have NOTHING on the agenda (except some rest and munchkin time) for the next week!!!! :) Then the countdown is on until Final Exams and Summer Vacation!!! :)

Where Does the Time Go?

Wow! It's been FOREVER since I last blogged! Since I have been home from vacation, I have been swamped with school. The class I am taking is a Research Methods class. I knew that it was going to have a lot of Scientific information and mathematical statistics to do in it. So I put it off as long as I possibly could. Then I decided that instead of spreading the torture out for 16 weeks in the fall semester, I would shrink all the same work into a 5-week summer session. OMG! So far, I have not had many problems. This week is probably going to kill me. :( I actually have to do the math for myself this week. I have been reading the statistics and I have been doing okay in writing about them. So.... I'm just hoping I can find someone to do my homework for me this week! (NO! I'm just kidding! I will actually do my OWN homework!) However, I only have assignments due this Sunday (7/31), next Sunday (8/7), and my final exam and final assignment are due 8/10. Then I have abou...

Summer Time....

"Summertime.... and the living is easy...fish are jumping....and the cotton is high..." Ok... so I don't know if the cotton is high (cause I live in the city). I don't fish, so I don't know if the fish are jumping! lol I just love that song... and I'm not sure why! Oh yeah! We used to play that in the Spring concert for band every year when I was in high school! The trumpets were awesome! Who knows?! I could be going crazy! lol Anyways.... I have spent the past two days hanging out with 4 little girls--Chasity and 3 of her friends. Since mom has been "avoiding" work (ok, so she's just not been able to go because of her knee), I have gone to the daycare and gotten 4 of Chasity's friends. They are sisters and I have know the family since the oldest one was small! Their mom helps me with Girl Scouts. The youngest of the three is only 2 days younger than Chasity. When they were younger, they all looked more alike, so they are called...
