A Toilet in the Road

Obviously, I wish I had a picture of this. If I had not been driving the car, I WOULD have a picture of it. After leaving my parents' house on August 19, I went my new usual way home. (The easy way is detoured. They are taking out 2 bridges at the same time; therefore, I get to drive the scenic route to get everywhere!) Anyways, there is one really busy, very big intersection between my house and my parents' (a few smaller ones too!). I got stopped at the light. There were 2-3 cars in front of me, all going straight. I noticed that everyone was going slowly through the light, but I couldn't see anything. I saw the white SUV 2 cars in front of me go up on the curb to get through. It looked like he had tried to turn into on-coming traffic and then changed his mind. Then the car in front of me changed lanes, and I saw it. A TOILET!! It was busted. The bowl was almost in-tact, but the rest was in chunks. So I, too, had to drive almost up on the curb to pass it. I...

Do You Believe in Karma?

This is one of those questions that I get asked often. "Do you believe in Karma?" I have been known to say, "Karma stinks, right?" Sometimes I think I believe. Other times, I think it's just consequences of actions. That makes no sense. As I wrote that, I confused myself.  :) Sometimes, I think that there really is Karma. People do things that are mean or horrible, and then something happens to them that is equally as bad. It also works in the reverse. Someone will do something awesome and then they get a "payback" out of nowhere. Other times, people do something horrible and then there are natural consequences from the action(s). Those consequences are sometimes better than any punishment anyone could have given them. Of course, that works in the positive also. Someone will do something and then they will get a reward they never dreamed of because of natural consequences. My parents taught me to believe that God handles the behaviors that ...

Spring Break—Day 3.

Image
Today, I got up at 8am.  I have been searching online for houses for a friend.  She and her family are looking to move and I was helping search.  I found a few and sent them to her.  Hopefully, she will find something.     I am in the middle of planning the Daddy-Daughter dance for Girl Scouts.  It is going to be a Luau this year!  At this moment, I have no one to help me.  But…. it will all work out.     Yesterday, the Princess and I worked on her bedroom.  Then we worked on the playroom.  My parents came over and Mom helped in the playroom.  Today, we have to finish her room so that my niece can come stay tonight.  (She and the Princess have been plotting this for WEEKS now!)    Today, I have some errands to run. We are working on the bedroom.  Then I might take a nap.  It IS Spring Break after all!

2012: A Year in Review (Part 2)

Here is Part 1 of this story. Now we are up to May. In May 2012, Tony and I celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary. The last time we really went anywhere (like a trip) was in 2002—our first anniversary. The only reason we went anywhere then was because my best friend was getting married the day before our anniversary. So Tony and I took off to Kentucky (or West Virginia, I can’t remember). Anyways, we haven’t been anywhere since then for our anniversary. So this year, our anniversary fell on a Saturday. That was the first time it has been on a Saturday (since we got married)!!! So after the softball game that day, we left for the beach. We took all the stuff with us in the car. We changed clothes in the bathrooms at the ballfield. We left! The next morning, before we headed home, we walked on the beach for a while.    School let out on June 8th. On June 14th, we had to take Chasity to the ER. She couldn’t breathe. She...

It Didn't Turn Out As Planned

So we picked up the surprise guest on Thursday. She was fine until 10:30pm last night. THAT is when she started crying wanting her mommy. Unfortunately, it was supposed to be her weekend at Daddy's house. So her mom was working her 2nd job. She was not going to be off work until 2am (today). I have known these people for 11 years, but I never once got Madison's dad's phone number. Oops.... might want to get that for next time! lol Anyways....we convinced her that everything would be fine and we could call her mom today. Of course, I was honestly hoping she would be fine and just agree to stay again tonight. HOWEVER.... we went to get something to eat around 6:30pm and she decided to remind us that she hasn't talked to her mom about going home. Well, I have no voice! When I open my mouth, NOTHING comes out! Okay! AIR comes out, but no sound! (That's going to make for great singing at church tomorrow!) So, I pulled up her mom's number in my phone. Dial...
