Days 20 and 21, Winding Down

Image
Wow!  I totally didn’t post yesterday. That means I didn’t tell what I am thankful for.   Day 20—I’m thankful for my friends. They are always there to help when I need them. I’m pretty sure that some of them are “sisters from other misters”.   Sometimes, they are my therapy sessions.   Day 21—I’m thankful for 2nd chances. It’s the little things that count. I forgot to post yesterday, but I have a 2nd chance to do it today. I have had many 2nd chances for big and little things in my life. With Christ, I’m thankful that He keeps giving me 2nd chances every time I mess up.   Yesterday, during my planning period, we had a meeting. It was only the 9th grade English teachers in it. We were discussing pacing, and how far along we should be in the curriculum already. Then we talked about the fact that next week, we have 2 days. When we come back after Thanksgiving, we have 3 weeks in December. Once we come back in January, we have 2 days the first week beca...

Winding Down the Week (and a Request)

Note: I love alliteration. Don’t you? I have finished all my afterschool meetings with adults for the week….well, almost.   Today, I have a Multicultural Club meeting. (I hope a lot of kids show up!)   Tonight is Girl Scouts. We have had 11 every week so far. I hope we keep a large group! It’s easier to do things with them if we have a huge group.   Tomorrow I have training after work. The kids get out at 10:30. Then the teachers are required to work until 3pm because we have training.    Monday is a Teacher Workday. If I can get most of my projects that the kids turned in this week graded today and tomorrow, I don’t think I’m going to work on Monday. (I could bring them home…..that way I’m not going INTO work!)   Here is my request.  And…. it’s random.  I have found a way to earn credit towards technology for schools. Every school is looking for free ways to get things into the classroom. So….  did you know that if yo...

Busy Week=Little Sleep

Image
Monday night, I had a PTC chair meeting at the Princess’s school.  I’m the chair of the social committee for the PTC (Parent Teacher Committee).   Tuesday night, I had a Teacher Appreciation sub-committee meeting. 2 hours. Accomplished a lot!     Tonight (Wednesday) I have a Hospitality sub-committee meeting. 2 hours. Hopefully will accomplish a lot!   Tomorrow we start Girl Scouts for the year! I hate starting so late, but we had to get some new girls. Right now, we have like 15, I think. We always accept more.   Friday, I have to work the gate for the football game at school.  Once that is finished, I will be coming home to crash…..  Yeah right! That’s not how it works.   Saturday, while Tony is working, the Princess and I have to be at the softball field for a double header! That makes for a VERY long day!   Sunday, I’m going to my mom and dad’s church (the church that we recently left). Dad asked me to come ba...

Small Concern/Complaint

Image
Normally I don’t complain about my job because I love it! Normally I don’t complain about my students because they are wonderful!  Obviously, this is extremely different than I felt last year, but I did keep most of that OUT of this space.  I would just talk about vague things….never specifics.  That’s what I am going to do here.  Because….what I am going to say has happened to EVERY teacher…. I’m sure!   I was not in class with the kids on Friday.  I had a meeting.  So, I left them PLENTY of work to complete.  They were left with instructions that if they did not complete the work in class, they should do it for homework.  So yesterday, we needed to discuss three pages of study guide questions they were given on Friday.   Of my 36 kids, only about 6 of them had all the questions complete.   So, instead of going over them yesterday for the test on Friday, we are doing that TODAY!    Unfortunately, that ...

Moving Update...and Randomness

On Tuesday, we moved Chasity's bedroom stuff into the new house. She has a few toys still here and her closet clothes. If the rain will stop, we will probably take that to the new house tonight! If it keeps raining, well, I guess everything else will go tomorrow! :) We also took my China cabinet and my china. You know the kind! The China we do NOT use! lol All the dishes we normally use were there already anyways! :) We've been paper plating and plastic utensilling since last week! :) Everything made it in one piece! So I got that set up in the dining room. The dining room table went also! :) So the dining room is basically set up! Chasity just has a few more things for her room! Tonight, we were supposed to move desks and such, but with the rain, I am thinking I'm not putting anything in an open trailer! We have flood warnings out until early afternoon! It's raining pretty steady today! (Wouldn't that be how it works!?) Anyways.... that's the mo...

Not So Bad

So even though it took a little longer than I had planned, I DID get my homework finished. The other two things I have to turn in (should have turned in already) are just papers I have to type up about things I saw/did while I was observing at MPHS! Now, I'm getting ready to head to the Girl Scout leaders meeting. We are going to get some stuff planned for the girls for January to the end of the year. :) I'm glad I have good help this year so that we can get lots done. Last year was a learning year for all of us! Hopefully I learned enough to NOT do last year over! lol Good thing there's no REWIND on life....right? Until next time........

Last Night

...we had our first Girl Scout meeting with the new girls that we recruited. My new co-leader is awesome! She basically took care of the girls while I had another parent meeting. I had to let all the new parents know how everything was going to work. (I hope it works!) Anyways, the girls had Game Night. I took Chasity's board games, card games, puzzles, and stuff to the meeting. I gave the girls 5 rules to follow. 1. No cheating. 2. No screaming and yelling. 3. No goodying the other girls when they won. 4. No crying when they lost. 5. Have lots of fun! They all abided by the rules! So...the Daisies earned their Blue (Honest and Fair) petal. The Brownies completed an activity for a Try-it. The parents will have to complete some of the other activities at home in order to earn the whole try-it! :) I have a couple parents that are going to be on the Troop Committee. I also have another parent who has decided to step up as a co-leader. That's great because I needed...

Plans for Today

I actually have accomplished already everything that I planned for myself for today! The only thing I wanted to get done today was.....sleeping in. Every morning, I get up between 5:30 and 6:00am. (That will be much EARLIER when I start my clinical observations and student teaching.) Anyways, my goal for today was to sleep past 8am. I did that. I slept until 9am. Then, when I got up, I went to the living room. I laid on the couch and fell back to sleep. I didn't wake up until almost 11am. Tony and Chasity left to go work at the church. I'm working on getting stuff together to meet with my Girl Scout co-leader in a couple of hours. After my meeting, Tony, Chasity, and I have to go grocery shopping. Other than that, we are finished for today. Of course, the house could use some work, but there's always tomorrow! lol Until next time........
