The World According to Leslie

This Memorial Day, I hope you said THANK YOU to a soldier (past or present).  I hope you stopped to think about all the things we have because of everything they sacrificed.   I spent my Memorial Day in front of my computer.  With only a total of about 90 minutes worth of breaks (food, potty, hanging with the Princess), I wrote all day.  I accepted a job writing articles.  I have 20 test articles due today.    Last week, something came up almost every night.  So I didn’t get to write them.  I spent Sunday and yesterday working on them.  I wrote 2 on Sunday.  I wrote 9 yesterday.  I still have 9 left to write today.  Unfortunately, I have to do the “real job” thing today.  So I am going to have to find a way to do research and write articles while I am at work….. guess that will be my planning period today!     Some of the articles aren’t hard to find information for, but others are killing me....

Why do I pack more in a day than I know I will ever get finished?  I have to be at 3 places at the same time today.  Unfortunately, for me, (fortunately for everyone else) there is only ONE me.  So I am going to have to FLY (I need wings) from place to place. Luckily the three places are not very far apart.  I just wish that I would convince myself that it is OKAY to wait on things.  Wait!  I am the master procrastinator.  So I should have this down....right? One of my students asked me yesterday if  I am a procrastinator.  I said, "Yep!"  He said, "How do you get everything done if you keep putting it off?"  I said, "I just put off dying until I can accomplish everything!"  (The entire class of Freshmen laughed!  I love when I can get them ALL to laugh about something!) I don't think I can procrastinate any of the things today.  So, I will just try to be in 3 places at one time and see how it works.

Since we had a "Snow Day" on Friday, I have to work today. I had the option to be off today.  However, my procrastinating self decided on Thursday afternoon that I would sign up on Friday to be off today.  Guess what!  SNOW DAY!  (No!  It did NOT teach me a lesson about procrastination.  But...I will use it to teach my students a lesson about it.) :)  So...  I'm working today.  I'm taking the Princess to work with me. As soon as I finish making a few copies and moving my room around for the new kids I'll have on Thursday, I will be out of there.  I really do love my job this year!

I'm working on it! I'm getting there! Nothing is going to stop me now! lol (How many cliches do I really need to get me finished with this semester?) So I have 4 papers, a 300-word essay, and 4 responses to other students' 300-word essays online that I have to do before midnight on Saturday night! I WILL have it finished and I WILL not ever wait this long again! However, I do know what I'm writing for 2 of the 4 papers....and they are only 2-pages each, so it's not really all that much! lol However, I still have 2 answers for the final exam that I can NOT find. So tomorrow I have to go back through all that to find them! Wonder if I can do that at the ball game tomorrow??? I am waking up in about 7 hours, so I guess I need to get to bed! I will post as the need to procrastinate hits me, but hopefully NOT too hard!!!! Until next time........
