Days of Thankfulness—Days 1-4

Image
Every year, I see friends and family tell on a daily basis through the month of November what they are thankful for.  Every year, I say, “I’m going to do that!”    So….this is the year I’m going to try.    I’ll start it here, but I’ll have to copy and paste it to my Facebook page. I haven’t started it there yet.   Day 1: I am thankful that I have life. Although everything doesn’t always go the way I plan or wish that it would, I am still happy to be alive.   Day 2: I’m thankful for health. There are always things that could be better, but there are also people who are suffering. I’m thankful that God has blessed me with my health.   Day 3: I’m thankful that I still have my grandfather. Papaw Paul is getting older, and I know he won’t be here forever, but he is here now. I’m really happy that we still have him to be here, and that he is healthy enough to still live on his own and have fun with us as a family.   Day 4: I...

Perks

Tony and I have owned (actually made payments on and then sold) two homes.  We actually owned ONE home and sold it.  Anyways, most of the time that we have been married, we have been renters.  Yes, I know that renting just puts money in someone else’s pocket.  Yes, I know that you can get tax credits for owning a house. Yes, I know that there are a million-and-one benefits to owning a home.   However, there are a few perks to renting. 1. If you are renting and it’s a townhome, you don’t have to pay the homeowner’s association fees or go to the homeowner’s association meetings.    You get to leave that to the actual homeowner.   2. When the security alarm (etc.) people call wanting to sell you something for your home, you can say “I rent” and they hang up more quickly than you can!   BONUS!   3. When you come home from the grocery store and your refrigerator has decided to stop working, and the stuff in your freezer ha...

Contemplating Life

Today is the last day of January. That means I only have 15 days until I get older....on February 15th. Thus, the reason I am contemplating life. I always think about what I could be doing. What I should be doing. What I want to be doing. I know I want to teach. I have always wanted to teach. Lately, I have been thinking that I want to be a writer. I know I am a writer, I write here. However, I want to write. I want to get paid to write. I can do it. I love writing. But, I don't know where to go to write. The newspaper here isn't hiring, plus they always want someone with experience. I would love to do some Freelance Writing. I just don't want to get sucked into a scheme.... ya know? So if anyone knows where I can get some freelance work for writing, just let me know...please. Also, I have been trying to think of ways that I can earn some money. Aren't we all? Anyways, I would love to earn some money doing something I love. I used to think that I wanted t...

Just Frustrated

**Warning** The following is somewhat negative!! **Warning** Ever just been frustrated? I am... I have many reasons why, but I just am! I have been in a slump for a couple days (well... working on weeks now) and it's getting old. I'm just frustrated. Every night I don't want to eat what is offered to me. I don't want to make the effore to get/make anything else. I just want to complain about it. I just like to complain right now. My hair has gotten so long that I am having to keep it pulled up. Pulling my hair up causes migraines. So I am having headaches everyday from having my hair pulled up. Since I'm not working, I have to either ask for the money or wait until it is offered to me. Right now, I'm waiting on my Financial Aid money from school to get here. I'm just frustrated. I emailed my professor for my class this semester. I asked her what books we are using for the class. That was on Aug. 6th. On Aug. 7th, she emailed me with a list of b...
