Motivational Meanderings--Robert Schuller

"What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?" Robert Schuller Wow!  Just wow! I have a list, a mile long, of things I want to do. Things I want to try. Things I'm afraid to try. What if I knew I couldn't fail, what would I do? First, I would audition for The Voice.  I love that show. I love singing. If I knew I couldn't fail, sign me up!!  Second, I'd get my dream job. I have a lot of dreams, but my dream teaching job has always been at my alma mater! I'd love to be able to walk into the doors of my old high school every day and teach the kids that come from the same place (background, neighborhoods) as me. I'd be able to relate to kids that understand the history of the school and who understand where you are coming from more than teaching kids that are totally different (socio-economically, location, background) than yourself. It wouldn't be easy, because today's kids are totally different than the kids when I wa...

Crossover Sunday

Today, my pastor will be speaking at a different church.  We will have the pastor of that church speaking at our church.  Why is this special?  Well.... the churches are two different denominations.  However, we try to do this once a year....on Crossover Sunday. Tonight we will gather at another different church and meet with several different churches.  Some baptist.  Some Church of God.  Some A.M.E. Zion.  Some non-denominational.  A little of everything.  And we will sing.  Each church has a song or two.  We will sing and sing until the singing is done. :) I love Crossover Sunday!

Catching up is Hard to Do...

The past couple of days have been hard. Monday we had the viewing for my Aunt JoAnn. Yesterday we had the funeral. He son (my cousin), Scott, spoke of his mother during the funeral. He told stories that she used to laugh about all the time. Like the time that she was headed to work and decided to drive through the car wash. When she got into the car wash, the water started spraying in her face through her open windows. She couldn't see to get the windows up so the car, inside and out, got a good wash....and she showed up for work a little water logged. Another story he told was about when she was going to the doctor's office one day. She and another of her son's Boyd parked in front of the wrong office. She decided they could walk to where they were really supposed to be. Between the two offices was a ravine and she slid in the mud in the ravine. Without even having to ask anyone, the staff got her a gown to put on and took her clothes and washed them for her so s...

Numb

So... this is what numb feels like. This has been one crazy week. With VBS every night, I have been getting very little sleep. Then I spend the day working on VBS stuff and then go to VBS at night. When I got home, I'd crash! Today, I spent all day (from 7a-4:30p) with Girl Scout leaders. I had Kick-Off training today. So, I went there. I got up at 5:30 today. I was out of the house by 6:30 to take Chasity to my mom's house (Tony had to work) and head to the carpool. Then I spent 9a-4p in classes (3 classes with 10 minutes between and 30 minutes for lunch). When I called home to let mom know I was on the way, she said she was getting ready to go see my Grandma. So I took her and Chasity there when I got to mom's house. However...when I got to Mom's house, she told me that my Aunt JoAnn--who has been sick for a while with Cancer--died this morning. Her funeral and everything will be the beginning of the week. So, I have to get ready to sing there. I told her ...

I really did NOT do this!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama . You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week. This week, I have been a REAL slacker. There are MANY things that happened that were NOT me! First, it was NOT ME that cried as my 5 year old left the house with my little (21 year old) sister to go spend the night on Friday evening. Of course, it was also not me that was kind of excited that I had to go pick the same child up a few hours later. (Unfortunately it was because my sister got sick!) Then, it was NOT ME that the following day took the same 5 year old to Lowes Home Improvement to stand behind a table to sell Girl Scout cookies. Of course, she and her Girl Scout friend that was there wouldn't look so cute that some people just donated money to them. In fact, they wouldn't look SO cute that one man (who had already bought cookies from his daughter) would just give them a $20 bill as a donation! A...
