New Year's Survey

I originally saw this on my friend Phyllis's blog. She originally saw it on our friend Susie's blog. I thought I should actually try it. It looked like fun! :) 1. What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before? I let Chasity stay with someone other than a family member. 2. Did you keep your New Year's Resolutions and will you make more for 2010? The one I am MOST disappointed that I did not keep was to read the Bible all the way through. However, I have a plan to do that THIS year (2010)!!! I DID however lose weight. That's something I say I'm going to do every year. BUT... in 2009, I lost a little over 60 lbs. I have managed to keep MOST of it off too! So, I will continue to lose weight in 2010. Somehow, I plan to hit that 100 lbs. lost mark! 3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Yes....Tony's neice, Amber, had Lenna-Grace. 4. Did anyone close to you die? Yes...my Aunt JoAnn died in July. Just before Christmas, a close family friend passe

Then a week later had to have emergency surgery to remove his spleen--because it was injured in the wreck. Because of this, and the trauma that your brain goes through in a wreck anyways, he hasn't driven since the wreck. Yesterday afternoon, he drove for the first time in a couple of months! Window’s Live Writer

So, I just went over the By His Design and my bloggy friend Tinika wrote about how to do Strikethrough on texts.  It could be because I begged asked nicely in her comments about how to do it!  :)  She’s so awesome.  She even played catch-up today with my 12 Days of Christmas experiment.  So go on over to visit her.  Ask her some blog questions.  Then read what she says!  :) Today while I was reading what she said, I learned about Windows Live Writer.  So I’m using it right now to write this post.  So far, I like it! :)  Thanks Tinika!  You rock!   Until next time…….. Charity Begins at Home

Last night, I stood with my mom and my daughter outside our local Bi-Lo. We rang the bell for the Salvation Army. Since we were the last people to be there, we didn't have to stay all that long. The guy from SA came to collect the bucket about 7:45pm. So we weren't even there an hour! It was great though. A few times, after events at Chasity's school, we have taken the extra food to the SA shelter. Chasity has gone with us. We have talked to her about how people end up in the homeless shelter. She understands that they are not bad people, but they are just having a hard time. Sometimes, when we are riding down the street, if we are stopped a light, we will hand some spare change to a person on the corner. Chasity understands that we have to try to help people....when we can. However, we can't help everyone all the time. Right now our church, Chasity's afterschool daycare, and Chasity's school are all collecting non-perishable foods. At the daycare, th

Something I've Never Done

Ever tried something new? I know you have. If you are a blogger, you had to TRY it at some point, right? So tonight, at 7pm, my husband (Tony), our daughter (Chasity), and I will be standing outside one of the local Bi-Lo stores ringing the bell for the Salvation Army. I never knew how to sign-up. However my church signed-up for the entire day. Different people have an hour (some took 2-3 hours) and we go up there to ring the bell. I think it is going to be fun! If nothing else, it will be a different way to give to charity. What kind of charity do you do? What new things have you tried recently? Until next time........

Nothing

Nothing. That's what I have been coming up with. I can't come up with anything to write. So I'm writing about my nothing. When I was in 6th and 8th grade my English teacher (I had the same teacher both years) had us to write stuff all the time. She would tell us that if we were writing and could not come up with anything to write, we should write "I can't think of anything to write" until we thought of something else to write. As funny as that sounds, it actually works. So, not only have I written something today (not that you really wanted to know it), I have thought about something I need to tell my students in the future! (I might even use it in Student Teaching in the Spring.) Until next time........

Comments

Ok... I think that I have fixed the comment issue. Please try to comment so I can test my "theory"! :) Until next time.........

Bored

You know, I'm kind of bored since I don't have any homework to do. I think I might work on some laundry. Chasity's clothes pile up really quickly. I didn't know ONE six-year-old could dirty up so many clothes in a weekend. But... I guess I'll keep her (and her laundry)! But for right this minute, I am bored. And...that's ok with me! Until next time........

Taking Care of Business

I have been receiving emails from some of my bloggy friends saying that my comments are working. I have made some changes to the comment settings. So, if you don't mind....try again. I haven't had comments in over a month. It could be because my comments are working. lol Also...this is my 180th post! I'm trying really hard to do better with posting more regularly. I need to find something to post daily. Hmm....... I'll come up with something. Until next time........

Above and Beyond

You know how the military goes above and beyond the call of duty? You know, if you're a teacher, that you really want the students to go "above and beyond" so they gain a better understanding. Well, because my mind is all over the place this semester (and especially the past 2 months), I continue to read my assignments incorrectly. For example, this week, the last week of the semester, we have a final reflection due about the UNIT we just wrote for our current/future classroom. We also had some readings to do about "new literacies". Under the reading assignments, it said, "REFLECTION" and proceeded to give me things to "THINK" about. Well, being the absolutely confused student that I am right now, I just went "above and beyond". I wrote a 3-page reflection just on the readings. lol NOW... I'm getting ready to do my FINAL assignment for the course. I start reading the directions and in the reflection I'm going to write

Rounding Third

Ever have one of those days where you feel like you're rounding third to get home? Today is one of those days for me. I feel like I'm about to slide into home plate. Yesterday, I receieved an email from my English professor. She said that all my work was due today. Obviously, I had NO IDEA seeing as though the end of the semester is still a week away. Then today, she sends out an email telling the whole class that everything is due no later than tomorrow so that she can get things graded and see if we are missing anything. OMG! I only got 4 hours of sleep last night because I was trying to get all my stuff written up. So, today, while I was in the Emergency Room with my Grandmother (she has a bad UTI and they are keeping her) me and my computer worked on another assignment. Now, I only have TWO to finish! Since I started with FOUR at the beginning of the day, I definitely feel like I'm rounding third. I might not slide, but I might fall over from exhaustion when I re

December

I love December... I love Christmas.... I love the holidays... Wait! I love ALL Holidays! Christmas is the best though. It starts early and goes on for a while! :) I am hoping to get our decorations up this weekend. First, we have the Christmas parade. (The second in 2 weeks!) I grew up in the neighboring town and now we live here. So we go to both parades. This year is a little different though. The Girl Scout troop is in BOTH parades! We have a cute little float that we have decorated and everything! lol It's really fun! Until next time........
