August is Chasity’s birthday!  She is the best kid ever!  We have the simplest, but the best, parties for her.   This year, the theme was “Princess and the Frog.”  Unfortunately, I was so consumed with school and work (I started work the week before her birthday!) that I forgot to order the cake!   What does ANY good mom do when she forgets to order the birthday cake?  Well, duh, she calls her own mom in tears!    Then her mom (my mom!) said, we can just make a cake!   What does any good daughter (me) do when her mom says that?    She goes and gets a cute pan and lots of M&Ms and icing.  Then she shows up at her mom’s house to make the cake!   So remember this is the DAY BEFORE the party—Friday night!  Mom has worked all day. So I said something once...I think.  But, I have a new job.  I will probably never list the school by name, but it is in the same school district where we live.  (There are 7 high schools there.) Since I am a new teacher (Beginning Teacher 2), I started work today!  I will work this week, and then ALL teachers arrive next Monday!  Today thru Wednesday, we have group training for all the new teachers.  Thursday and Friday I will be at my school site!  Hopefully I will meet my mentor teacher one of those days.  Hopefully I will get my room and keys.  I haven't said much about the job because it seems surreal.  I guess I will show/tell more about my room when I actually get it.  Since I didn't have a room (I floated) last year, it's kind of hard to believe until it happens!! Tomorrow we are talking curriculum.  Wednesday, I have no idea what we are doing.  I am totally EXCITED!

I have so much to do: Finish my personal paper for school Finish all my modules for school Finish my final paper for school Finish packing to move Go to Tweetsie Get everything ready for work Have Chasity's birthday party Start new classes online at UNCC.  I only have 2 left!  Then I will graduate in December 2012!! Apply for Graduation. Get cap/gown for Graduation. I really do have a lot to do.  Next week, I start work so I guess I need to get it all done now! :)

Today, I am waiting for the call from HR at my new job to call me to do paperwork. I have already arranged for daily after-school transportation for Chasity (beginning today). She already rides the bus in the mornings. I am hoping that I will get my paperwork completed soon and get into my classroom! I am excited! Over the weekend, I went through all the stuff that I have already. I filled up 3 notebooks with "random stuff"...grammar, vocab, short stories, novels, etc. I filled up one notebook with "Romeo and Juliet" stuff! Hopefully I can use some of it (I'm sure I will be able to) in my new classroom. I sat in the floor for a few hours working on getting my notebooks together. I couldn't stay focused because of the excitement! HOWEVER....today..... while I'm waiting on the call, I'm being productive. I have already read 50 pages. I have 88 left to read. Then the writing starts! I've been productive so far!

Today, I have been waiting for the call from Human Resources. Since Monday is a holiday, I guess I will get the call on Tuesday. I hope to be at the school Thursday or Friday. I don't know if they are planning to have me observe the other two teachers for a day or two so I can see what they are working on in class OR if they are going to just give me the students! Either way is great, but I think I might be more comfortable if I knew what they are working on already! :) I have started a list of questions I need to ask. I have started a list of things I need to get. I have ordered some books I have been wanting so I would have them to use in my classroom. Now, I'm just waiting for the call. In the meantime, I'm going to enjoy the weekend! :)
