A Different Anniversary

One year ago today.... just 365 days ago, I was lying in my bed and couldn't move. I couldn't sit up because my head hurt too badly. I couldn't eat because I couldn't keep anything down. Tomorrow marks a year since I ended up in the hospital because of it. I wish I could say that the headaches are gone. They are NOT! In all honesty, I missed church on Sunday because my head was hurting so badly that everything was spinning. I have actually had a headache EVERY DAY for the past year. Some days, it's tolerable. Other days, I cry a lot. I am so tired of it, that I finally called this morning and made an appointment at the doctor's office. I have no idea what she's going to do.... probably send me for the same tests I've had 5 times already.... but maybe they can figure it out. My surgeon suggested, when I went in for my 2 year post-surgery visit there, that I ask my doctor about Botox.  That has shown some promise for migraines.  (But.... ...

Not What I was Hoping For

Somethings just don't happen the way you hope/wish they would. For example, last Wednesday, the Princess had her Battle of the Books competition. Out of  schools, they came in 4th. Of course, I was HOPING for 1st..... but.... it doesn't always work out that way! :) Wednesday evening, I also didn't win the 7th largest PowerBall Jackpot.  (Of course, to be considered, I'd have to buy a ticket, and I didn't do that either!) Thursday, I went for my follow-up with my neurosurgeon. He re-did my CT scan and determined that my aneurysms have not changed. They haven't grown, but they haven't gotten smaller. In all honesty, I was hoping God would just take them away--since my Doc said that they never go away without surgery. I was hoping God would prove him wrong. The good thing is that I'm healthy and don't have to go back until next February. (I am thinking about changing to a doctor closer to home. I'm not sure I want to drive to Charlotte just to...

Finally Friday!

Image
I’m so excited that it is Friday! Today, I can pay $1 to wear jeans to work. I really wish I had something PINK to wear. Then I would be totally appropriate. However, I think I might wear my navy blue and my jeans and my brown boots.   I’m on fluid pills now for all the fluid that my legs and ankles are holding. I don’t think they are working as well as the doc would like. So….she might have to play with it. I still can’t get my black boots on. If  I do, my ankles swell so much that I can’t get the boots off.   Last night, we had 11 girls at Girl Scouts. It was FABULOUS!  I hope they all come every week! That would make it GREAT for the activities that we need to do.  I just need to figure out what we are planning to do NEXT week.      This week has been very difficult. I have had a meeting EVERY night. Tonight I have to work the gate at the football game for work. I’ll probably leave at halftime.   Tomorrow is a double header...

Catching Up….Again!

Image
I haven’t written in a few days again. I really hope that when I get back to work next week, I will get back to writing here every day.   Yes! I go back to work next week. I’m excited and scared. It’s the same thing I did last year at the same school. I’m not scared, just anxious. New kids. New co-workers. New boss.     I have open house at for my kids on Thursday evening. The Princess has Open House at her new school next Thursday also. We are going to have to work that one out.     Monday and Tuesday of this week, I did not feel well. I was so dizzy on Monday that I had to have the Princess to take care of me. I slept for almost 2 hours and felt better. Tuesday I felt much better….just a little residual dizziness. It happens sometimes. I’m afraid to tell my doc because the meds they are suggesting will take me away from driving for 6 months. That means that I won’t be able to get to work.   That’s not good.    I have gotten into ...

Weekend Flew By!

Image
Wow!  I can’t believe another weekend is gone.  Time flies by so quickly!  June is over.  Today is July 1st!    July 1st means I have a new boss.  My principal from this past school year is taking a different job (a higher job) with the school system.  One of the assistant principals is becoming the principal today!  I’m excited.  She is great to work with.   On Saturday, we got up early and went to SC.  Their was a death in Tony’s family, so we went to the memorial service. Then we had time to spend with family we hadn’t seen in a couple of years.   That’s always good.  That makes for interesting Facebook pictures!   Saturday morning, Tony found a tick on his hip.  He pulled it off, treated the area, and kept the tick.  Yesterday, he went to Urgent Care to get checked out…as a precaution.  Doc said to just keep an eye on it for a couple of weeks, gave him a Tetanus shot, and sent him o...

Please Excuse Me

I know I said I would post Hilton Head pics today.  However, I am in a lot of pain.   On Thursday of last week, I woke up with a sore shoulder.  I thought I slept on it wrong, so I went about my business as usual.  We left Thursday night for vacation.  Over the weekend, it has gotten worse.  I kept hoping every night that I would sleep on it right and it would be wonderful the next day.  That is NOT how it worked.   Today, I was hoping to get in with my chiropractor.  But… he is booked and closes early on Wednesdays to go to church.    I am sitting here with my left arm over a pillow so that I don’t move it too much.  I can’t turn my head in either direction because of the pain.  If I cough, laugh, cry, or sneeze….  let’s just say they all end in tears.  Kind of like typing….  I have tears rolling down my face now trying to write this.   I am hoping it’s just a pulled muscle.  I’m h...

Taking Care of My Parents

You know how people always say that as their parents get older, they have to take care of them.   Well, today, I have to take my daddy to the doctor.  He hasn’t been able to drive since he was in the hospital in October.  So, since I will get off work before Mom today, I have to take him.  I don’t HAVE to, but I will.   How many times have they done stuff for me that was inconvenient or not what they wanted to do?  It’s payback time.  I’m okay with that!

2012: A Year in Review (Part 2)

Image
Here is Part 1 of this story. Now we are up to May. In May 2012, Tony and I celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary. The last time we really went anywhere (like a trip) was in 2002—our first anniversary. The only reason we went anywhere then was because my best friend was getting married the day before our anniversary. So Tony and I took off to Kentucky (or West Virginia, I can’t remember). Anyways, we haven’t been anywhere since then for our anniversary. So this year, our anniversary fell on a Saturday. That was the first time it has been on a Saturday (since we got married)!!! So after the softball game that day, we left for the beach. We took all the stuff with us in the car. We changed clothes in the bathrooms at the ballfield. We left! The next morning, before we headed home, we walked on the beach for a while.    School let out on June 8th. On June 14th, we had to take Chasity to the ER. She couldn’t breathe. She...

Scheduling Appointments and Visiting the Doctor

Earlier today, I had to call Chasity's doctor's office. There are 7-8 doctors in the one office, so I know they are busy. However, if I call and need to ask a question or schedule an appointment, someone should answer the phone...right? Well...I pulled to the top of the hill at my driveway. While I checked for traffic, I dialed the doctor's number. I drove to Chasity's school. I asked for them to send Chasity to the office for check out. I waited on Chasity. I talked to Chasity's teacher. I put Chasity in the car. I drove to the doctor's office. Did any see that I had spoken to the doctor's office? No? That's because I hadn't! When I went in the office, I was STILL on hold. 20 minutes and 49 seconds to be exact. When it was my turn to talk to the nurse behind the counter, I hung up. I did however SHOW her my phone. I did NOT like the fact that I had been on hold for 20 minutes. I told her that I needed to have my daughter seen for ear pain. She said....

Weekend Recap

On Friday night, Chasity and I went to a Girl Scout mock sleepover. Until recently, Daisy Girl Scouts were not allowed to have actual sleepovers. (Daisies are Kindergarten and 1st grade Girl Scouts.) So our Service Unit planned a mock sleepover. They called it the "Princess Jammie Jam"! There were games, balloons, dancing, food, and even tiaras! There were dress up clothes for the girls! Everything was PINK! :) We did the Electric Slide, Bunny Hop, and the Cha-Cha Slide. During the fun and games, I popped my right knee. It didn't start hurting or anything so I thought it was fine. Saturday morning, I woke up to a swollen knee that I couldn't bend. Mom and I went to a few yard sales. We really weren't looking for anything specific, but we love just going to look. I got Chasity a set of 10 books (it's a series) for $2...YES! The SET for $2. I also got her an "I Spy" computer game and the "High School Musical 2" soundtrack. Eac...

Catching Up!

You'd never know by the amount of posts that I have put up lately (haha!) that I have been swamped! I love school. That's probably why after I had a 5 year break, I went back. I love English! Again...that's probably why I'm working on getting my license to teach High School English! I LOVE IT! However, I don't love paperwork. Ok...I'm lying. I do love it! I have had so much of it lately that I'm not really enthused about it right now. Anyways, I'm starting to be able to see the bottom of the pile on my desk. So...I should get back to normal (however I define that) soon. School is almost over for the semester. I have completed my observations. All I have left are 3 big assignments. Two of which I need to be working on now, but I'd rather blog. lol Last week, I even wrote out a blog to post, while I was observing in Mount Pleasant. However, I never got around to it, and now....well... it's old news.....even to me! :) Right now, there are just a few...

G is for Grandma and Good Grief!!!!

So I'm on an alphabet kick recently I guess... but.... that's how my brain works I guess. Anyways, some things have been going on around here so I thought I'd write. Good Grief! Actually...both words tie together today! I guess I need to explain Grandma first! Alright...Grandma Edwards...she's my mom's mom! She's 90 years old and has Alzheimer's. She has been living in an Assisted Living facility near here since Christmas. She's been doing pretty well...once we got everything straightened out for her! :) However... Wednesday the staff called my mom to inform her that Gma had a fever--almost 101. They said they were going to have the nurse there check her and they'd let mom know what was going on. I had a meeting that night and mom was supposed to watch Chasity for me. So about 5pm mom called me to say that Chasity was staying with my dad because she was going to check on Gma. That was cool! About 5:15pm mom called back and said that I need...

My Week in Review!

This week has been pretty crazy! It all started last Saturday! We had a baseball game at noon! Yep! It was POURING down rain! I actually think I saw some cats and dogs falling from the sky! We had a 15 minute delay, but it didn't help. However....as long as there's not thunder and lightning....the ball game goes on! So I was under the umbrella, but Tony and Chasity were on the field in the rain! Sunday... I got up to get ready for church only to find Tony in the fetal position in our bed. He was freezing (and it was 70-ish in the house). He had a fever of 103....so.... I got Chasity ready for church and sent her with my mom. I took Tony to Urgent Care (like an ER, but quicker and cheaper on the wallet)!! We weren't there long before they had decided that he had pneumonia and his blood work was looking strange. So they sent us home (actually to Walgreens for meds) and said to get to his PCP (primary care physician) ASAP! Monday....Memorial Day.....I got up and c...

Ear Infections

I can't believe that we are still going through this!! Two years ago (almost to the day) Chasity had double ear infections. So, I took her to the doctor. Ten days later her ears were still hurting so I took her back. Ear infection only in one ear. Ten days and a different antibiotic later we went back to the doctor because she's still hurting. Ten days and ANOTHER different antibiotic later (I didn't know there were so many kinds of antibiotics to take) we went back to the doctor to find out the infection is in the OTHER ear. By this time, I'm really getting aggrivated. So I asked for a referral to the ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat dr.). Our pediatrician said that we could try ONE MORE round of antibiotics. So we did. FIVE days later when both ears are oozing stuff everywhere we went back to the pediatrician. Instead of a referral to the ENT, Chasity got two shots of antibiotics. (We saw a different doctor everytime we went it. There are 7-8 who work there!) T...
