Weekend Flew By!

Wow!  I can’t believe another weekend is gone.  Time flies by so quickly!  June is over.  Today is July 1st! 

 

July 1st means I have a new boss.  My principal from this past school year is taking a different job (a higher job) with the school system.  One of the assistant principals is becoming the principal today!  I’m excited.  She is great to work with. Smile

 

On Saturday, we got up early and went to SC.  Their was a death in Tony’s family, so we went to the memorial service. Then we had time to spend with family we hadn’t seen in a couple of years. Smile  That’s always good.  That makes for interesting Facebook pictures!

 

Saturday morning, Tony found a tick on his hip.  He pulled it off, treated the area, and kept the tick.  Yesterday, he went to Urgent Care to get checked out…as a precaution.  Doc said to just keep an eye on it for a couple of weeks, gave him a Tetanus shot, and sent him on his way.

 

For the past week almost, we have had rain every night!  Friday night it was so bad that many of the roads were flooded.  It’s kind of scary when you can’t see to drive and the water is half way up the tires….and the hubby doesn’t stop! 

 

Since Friday, I have had three offers for writing articles.  I am currently working on a four article trial.  I finished two, but the other two are due today.  I have another trial I am going to start today.  I have an “interview” on Skype at noon today about a third job.  I’m hoping that I can get one of them and keep writing even after school starts back.  That is my goal….to have some extra money coming in from writing when school starts back.  I’ve already made some this summer.  I just want to keep it up. Smile 

 

I guess I need to go get busy.  Mom is going to the doctor tomorrow…FINALLY.  We will see what they say about her leg (that is swollen, has a rash, and itches constantly)!

Emotional Easter

WARNING: This post is going to be REALLY long. Don't say you weren't warned! This is the post I have tried to convince myself not to write so that no one's feelings get hurt. My Strange Collection--But Not Strange to Me!

Recently (just a minute ago) I visited Avr over at Just to Write . Today she is talking about things we collect. She collects unicorns. So in her comments today, I added my comment: Well... I collect Salt & Pepper shakers. I have been collecting them as long as I can remember. The rule is that they have to be unusual AND I don't buy them for myself! They have to come from other people....My Grandmother has the beginnings of my collection at her house. Some of them date back to WWII. Her uncle sent them here from overseas when he was fighting in WWII. So that is why I started collecting.... HOWEVER... I too have a collection of unicorn stuff. It has been packed up for a couple years now. I have seriously thought about putting it on eBay just to get rid of it. I started collecting those on my 7th bday. A friend gave me one for my bday and I loved it. Then I would see them everywhere. Then it became an obsession for a while! lol Now I think I'm just going to stic

Saving Money

Tony and I have always WANTED to save money. However, when we got married, we didn't start right away. Then two years later, Chasity was born. Then it was almost IMPOSSIBLE! Now, we've been married for 9 years, and we have VERY LITTLE actually saved. It seems like every time we get a little saved, something has to be fixed.... usually the car! lol It does need work now, but we're waiting.... but I don't think we can wait long. We know that when I actually get a teaching job, we'll be able to save about 1/3 (maybe more) of my paycheck every month....since we've been living for almost 4 years on just Tony's check anyways. However, I have decided that I want to start saving now! So.... here's my plan. It's really really hard....just kidding! The only thing I need to know is this.....Does Wal-Mart still match prices?
